  1. @tejas03...I also applied at MSU and WC and was declined at both the first time but then got accepted into both the second time around. Watch you get into all 3! lol I know which one you'll pick! *wink* The doors will open for us when we have our RN. I, like you, have been an LVN for a long time. We're so limited as an LVN. The one good thing is we shouldn't have a hard time getting a job as an RN since we already have LVN experience. I've heard that it is hard to find a job as a new nurse without any experience. I think it is because there are so many getting education on the internet and not much clinical experience. I will start MSU next week and I'm so excited. I eventually want to teach. Good luck with UTA and the others! Keep me informed!
  2. Tex42cares and Tejas03... I was accepted into the LVN-RN transition program at WC and the BSN program at Midwestern State University this year. I decided to accept the BSN offer so I cannot offer any information on the WC transition program. I did go to the orientation day at WC so I did get some information on it. You do join up with the current ADN students and it will be ok because you are already an LVN and have plenty of assessment skills. They are still nervous about the whole thing and look to the transition students for help. So you should be fine there. If you haven't worked in a hospital setting and are not familiar with some of the procedures...just tell your mentor that you would like for her (or him) to be there when you do it. In the class that I was going to be in there were a bunch of LVNs that hadn't worked in a hospital before. You should be fine! Just don't be afraid to admit that you don't remember or don't know how to do something. Good luck!
  3. Is anyone attending the transfer orientation day on June 15th? I will be going that day and was hoping to meet up with someone to sit with. lol When I looked on the class schedule...i noticed that a lot of the classes that fit my schedule are almost full. I hope I can still get in them by the 15th. :)
  4. I am going to commute. I am about an hour away.
  5. PAMQ, The deadline for Midwestern to accept or decline your spot is the 27th. Just make sure you have something set in stone before you decline MSU because you can always decline it later if you get in somewhere else but is sounds like you've already been accepted to another college that you prefer. I have to decline Weatherford transition program because I'd rather do my bachelors degree. I'm going to decline Weatherford today...they only accepted 20. I'm fixing to make an alternates day! lol Good luck to you! If you decide to go to MSU we should all get together and meet somewhere before the orientation.
  6. Congratulations prettygirlrock! I'm so happy for you!
  7. I am in Bridgeport. I am 70 miles from MSU. I'm hoping the classes and clinical are condensed into 3 days especially with gas what it is. I'm open to carpooling if anyone is out my way and would like to.
  8. prettygirlrock Have you gotten your mail today yet? I would imagine they can only process so many a day. I bet you will get your acceptance letter soon! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
  9. Congratulations MOT82! We should all look for each other at the orientation. Do you have all of your core classes done? I have Gov't II and another humanities to take yet. I think I'm going to take them at Weatherford College over the summer.
  10. Hi everyone! I got my letter of acceptance into the program today. Hopefully y'all got yours too! :) I will be driving about an hour. I'm in Wise County. Let me know if you're out my way and would like to carpool.
  11. I applied to MWSU, also. I have not heard anything either. I applied last year and did not get in. I got my letter of being on the waitlist about 7 weeks after the deadline. I imagine we will hear something by the end of April. Good luck to you both! ...and me too! lol
  12. Very true! The bills keep coming. Its hard to put them on hold. lol I was an alternate last year at WC so I went through the orientation in hopes of getting in but did not. The schedule that they past out at orientation was pretty full time the first summer semester but the second summer semester had a lot of days off from what I remember. Hopefully we can work quite a bit then.
  13. Angelia, congrats to you too! I am also at a point in my life that I am ready and able to do this. Are you going to try to work during the program? I will probably work on Saturdays as long as we don't have clinicals that day. I know about 5 yrs ago they had Saturday clinicals at WC. So we shall see. Way to go Angelia and Laura! I look forward to meeting you both.:)
  14. lauraw32, Dangit...I will be driving in from the opposite direction. I am in Bridgeport and will be driving about an hour too. I hope we both find someone.
  15. I also have gotten accepted into the 2011 LVN-RN transition program at WC. I am very excited because I attended the LVN program at WC in 2000 and the professors were very helpful. They were always available if needed. I do not know anyone that has gone through the transition program there but I am assuming the ADN professors will be just as wonderful. I am hoping to find a carpool buddy since I live quite a ways away.
