  1. For UIC's program you have to pick a specialty area upon application. If you read the FAQ's it also says that the program typically spans from 3.5-5.5 years. After the first 15 months you are eligible to sit for the NCLEX, but I believe the remaining portion is mostly only available part time depending on the specialty. I somewhat forget because I stopped looking into this program, but it's all on their website.
  2. Congrats! Well maybe the best thing to do now is try to get as much info as you can before you choose.
  3. I don't really know either, but you may be able to find a way to talk to students or ask the school about job placement afterwards. I haven't made my final decision yet, but DePaul was the only program I applied to. Has anyone applied to both?
  4. No, I meant she only went to DePaul. Since Rush appears to be a more selective program it may be the better one.
  5. They both are the same amount of time, but quality wise I can't be sure. I've been able to find more past students talking about the MENP program, but Rush's has not been around as long. I know one person who has completed the MENP and is now a FNP, but besides that I don't know much besides what other students on here have said.
  6. I'm went to UIC for the last 2 years of my undergrad and commuted downtown (not fun), but I'm currently in Schaumburg so it should be closer this time around. Has anyone filled out their intent to enroll or are you all waiting for the letter?
  7. Did you get the actual letter yet, because I have only received the email. The cost of the program scares me a bit, but I'm pretty sure I will enroll and just hope for the best.. =) Where did you complete your undergrad at?
  8. I have also received mine! Have you made a decision yet?
  9. To all of you who are currently in or have completed the MENP program would you mind sharing your opinion of the program?
  10. Has anyone applied to or been accepted to DePaul's MENP program for the winter 2012 cohort?
  11. I haven't gotten a letter, they just emailed me. Did they actually say you were accepted for the winter or that they would review your application again for the winter? My email basically said that because I have so many prerequisites in progress (3 out of the 4 :/) they cannot make a decision on my application for the fall, so they will review my application for the winter term
  12. Someone from admissions emailed me today. They said my application is being deferred until the Winter term due to my lack of prerequisites. So I guess it's good that it isn't a flat out no, but still not what I was hoping to hear. =/
  13. Has anyone else not received their letter yet?
  14. Yeah, I'm not sure but hopefully they email me back Monday. All I know is they couldn't have sent my letter Tuesday, because it is still not here.
  15. I know that the application status tab doesn't say anything about their decision, but when I looked at it today it said the term was Winter 2011-2012. I applied for the Fall semester, so I'm not sure if that means they aren't looking at it until the winter..=/ I emailed someone so hopefully they get back to me soon about it.
  16. No letter for me either. I'm not sure how it wouldn't be here yet if they sent them Tuesday. I only live an hour away.
  17. Yeah that is pretty tough. Did you mention that in your statement? They may take that into account..or at least they should have. GPA is somewhat of a tough indicator because it really depends on your classes and institution, but I'm sure they know the difference. All my info is from a NP that did the program and I'm sure things have changed since then, but she also talked to students from the MENP program. She said one of her students last year was on the waitlist and ended up being admitted later on. According to her they have a pretty lengthy waitlist, but that doesn't mean that will hold true for this year.
  18. @orkydancer: No! I'm getting really impatient waiting for this letter to come in. I was just trying to see if anyone was going to be turning down their admission. I'm not sure if I'll even be on a waitlist so I'm probably getting ahead of myself. Just curious do you have any healthcare experience, because everyone else seems to have some and it is probably what my application is lacking. =/ Also the fact that only one of my prereqs is done. I was considering signing up for a CNA class over the summer, but in reality it may be too late for that to help me.
  19. For those of you who were accepted, will all of you be accepting admission to DePaul or is anyone waiting to hear from another school?
  20. @bring1: I think my big problem is that I only have A&P I completed with an A. Inorganic and A&P II are in progress with A's, but that probably doesn't mean much to DePaul until the courses are complete. I'll be taking orgo over the summer. So only having 1 out of the 4 prerequisites completed isn't very good, but I'm still hoping that maybe I got waitlisted. I don't have my CNA which may also be a problem because everyone seems to have a lot of experience. All I've done is shadow a NP and volunteer as a Wish Granter for Make-a-Wish and neither is really health care experience. I did get a good recommendation from a NP that completed the MENP program herself so I figured that might help, but I'm not really sure.
  21. Have you worked as a CNA or are you just certified as one? Has anyone else applied to other entry MA programs or ACCL BA?
  22. Does anyone else have their CNA?
  23. Yeah I suppose. I origionally wasn't even going to apply until the Spring because I am missing so many but I figured it would be better to at least get my application out there. I'm sure I will reapply I just don't really want to waste my time if I don't have a chance the second time around
  24. Was anyone else missing prereqs? I think that probably hurt my application because I only had one completed the other 3 are in progress =/ But my overall GPA is a 3.5 and I also do volunteer work [although not in a medical feild]. I also got a great recommendation from a nurse practitioner. I'm just not really sure if it's the prereqs or if I screwed up somewhere else along the way. If anyone else is willing to share their stats please let me know.
  25. I just emailed admissions, they said the decisions have already been made and we should be receiving them in the mail soon. So basically for those of us without campus connect links I believe we already got the answer. =/ Unless they waitlist applicants then maybe it can change idk.
