  1. any info on working as a liberal nurse in france i heard they make a lot of money more than working for a hospital. by the way nurse aides make between 1100-1300 euro a month here and nurses make between 1400-1800 a month this is in nursing homes thanks michelle
  2. anyone with information about working in france or about the info i have posted email me at [email protected] thanks michelle lagaillarde
  3. has anyone from england or america recieved their french license can you tell of the process how long it takes how fluent in french do you need to be etc. thanks michelle
  4. if you apply to england for a license and then go to france your only obligation is to speak and understand french you will not have to take any exam. you will only have an interview in french to test you on your language skills pass that and they give you your license because england is part of the european community. contact the DDASS and they will send you a document in english telling you what you need they did for me.if you come here with an american diploma you must take a nursing exam then depending on what you make on the exam go to nursing school for a minimum of one year maximum of three years. you can work as a aide only in private facilities not public with an american diploma i start work in about two weeks. i will pass a small exam for the aide in december given at the DDASS you speak with a doctor who test your skills and language then if they give the ok you work one week for the red cross and three weeks for a hospital then you can be a nurse aide at any facility you want.
  5. hello, thank you for your reply and best of luck to you in the states you will love nursing there i did. can you tell me about nursing in france what it is like? i checked into a private nursing home here and they are going to hire me as an aide soignent until i can do something about my diploma take the nursing exam or go to england to validate my diploma. the french language is what scares me it seems so difficult at this point i understand most but i do not write or read french. i start work as an aid in about two weeks so i will see how it goes thanks again best of luck michelle
  6. hello sharon, I am a registered nurse from america who came to france to try to work here. i hold duel citezenship both french and american. It is very difficult here to get permission to work as a nurse. you must contact an agency in the town you wish to work at here called the DDASS there is an office in the major city for all of the department. you can look up the address and phone number on the internet just look up the DDASS there is one in Paris and one in Toulouse i have talked with them both. If you did not go to school in one of the european countries then you must pass an exam and go to nursing school for a minimum of one year maximum of three years. if you went to school or hold a license in a european country your only obligation is to understand french. you will be given an interview at the DDASS by another nurse who will decide if your french is good enough for you to work here if it is she will give you the authorization to work here if it is not then you CAN NOT WORK HERE. I am going to england at the beginning of the year to work for a little while so i will have a nursing license from a european country and will not have to take the nursing exam or go back to school in france my only obligation is to learn the language before i come back here. i have been living here for about one year now i did not know that i was going to have trouble with my diploma when i came" if you would like to talk more email me at [email protected]. unfortunately you must learn your french well before you can work here but call the DDASS they can send you documents in english to explain all to you they did for me. best of luck michelle lagaillarde
  7. helloi am an american with duel nationality(french also) i live most of my life in the usa; i moved to france with my husband in december he is french. i worked three years as a registered nurse in the usa, before to come here. to work as a nurse in france is kind of difficult. first you must be completely fluent in french; next you must take a nursing exam in french depending on what you score on this exam you must go to school for a minimum of one year maximum of three years, you can not work here until this is done, because they do not recognize the american diploma as being equal. there is another way though which i will probably do at the beginning of the year. you can go to england to work were the diploma is equal and with the english diploma work in france because england is part of the european community and france recognizes the english diploma as being equal to theirs; hence there is no exam to take, and you do not have to go to school either; once you have the english diploma your only obligation is to speak the language and you can work all of europe.
  8. can anyone tell me how long i would need to work in england before to work in france? i hold an american diploma which is not the same as french; but the english is. thanks
  9. hello, my name is michelle. i am an american with duel nationality french also. i hold both passports french and american. i lived most of my life in the usa; i moved to the south of france near toulouse in December with my husband and newborn son. In the usa i worked five years as a nurse aide and then after college three years as a registered nurse. i am just beginning to understand and speak french slowly. my husband is french. i speak english with him and my son and with everyone else french. i do not write any french and reading is very basic. i know my american diploma is not the same as the french i have checked into it and i would have to take an exam then go to school for a minimum of one year maximum of three years depending on how you score on the exam. PLUS YOU MUST BE FLUENT IN THE LANGUAGE!!! i am not. i am considering going to england to work first while i learn my french; because i have been told that if i work in Engand the diploma is the same as the french and after i can work immediately in France if i know the language by then. I have another question i was wondering with my experience and diploma if i could work as a nurse aide for the moment to just get some extra cash? can anyone tell me anything about the nursing in england shift hours pay good areas to work and live and also about working in france too any good information you can give me. feel free to use my personal email because i do to visit this site often.
