  1. Is anyone in the spring 2012 program looking for a roommate? I was hoping our orientation would be earlier so we would be able to meet other students and maybe find a roommate but our orientation isn't until January, which is cutting it a bit close. So if anyone is also looking for a roommate in the program please let me know!
  2. I e-mailed the CON earlier about when an orientation will be held. I assumed it would be sometime in November or December but I was told it will not be until January 3rd. Our agendas will be sent to us by mid November. I was hoping an orientation would be earlier so i could meet other students and hopefully find a few who were looking for roomates. Has anyone else started looking into housing options? Roomates are always good for financial reasons but it would also be nice since we will be on such a tight and concentrated schedule. Just seeing what other's ideas are...
  3. Josh MC- I am taking it you got in?
  4. Good luck to everyone in the future! It takes a lot just to be considered for an accelerated program and all of us who were considered definitely worked our tails off doing so. Luckily Florida has a large amount of accelerated programs and options so don't let this hold you back! I read my letter and was shocked I did get in! It just seemed like there was such a small chance, I honestly was preparing myself for a let down. For future students,,, I had a GPA of 3.75ish for pre reqs and overall, I volunteer in a pre op lab at my hospital, I went to FSU for Sport Management and a Master's at UCF for Community, Family, and Child Sciences, and I have worked in the wellness field since 2004. My GPA was great, for me, but it could be better and I am still completing my Chemistry, Microbiology, and sociology classes. I really thought those were going to hold me back. I am not saying that is what you need to do to get in, by any means, but it worked for me so... If anyone needs any help or suggestions about other programs I would be happy to help as I have researched them quite a bit (was seriuosly about to take action on Plan B for Summer 2012).
  5. Has anyone heard anything? I was thinking a letter (good or bad) would be in the mail today, but nothing has come yet....
  6. I am waiting to hear back from FSU, which I really am not too hopeful about now, but still crossing my fingers and waiting :uhoh21: If I don't get in there then I am going to apply to UNF, USF, UCF, FAU, and UF for the summer (pretty much all of the in-state public schools). Waiting 5 more months won't kills me... Really, we are lucky Florida has so many options if #1 doesn't work out.
  7. When I spoke with them last week the woman said they would know within the first-second week of October. I am getting really anxious, but there is nothing to do but wait...
  8. Yay good news!! (finally)
  9. Man oh man. Every time I come on here the news just gets worse. I will be praying for us all since it seems most of us put all of our focus and energy on FSU's programs. Good news? At least we are in a state with plenty of other programs to get in to. Other states only have a school or two, if any. UM is the only school in Florida though with a Spring selection, I think. What are everyone's Plan B plans? I am still not giving up on FSU yet. I was pretty sure I would get in but now that they are taking such a limited number of students I am pretty doubtful. When I met with an advisor in the spring she said that about 1/2 of all who apply do not even meet the requirements. So that is a bit hopeful.... But they only had 80+ apply for 2011. I am guessing that since they stopped requiring the HESI that a lot more people applied. Who knows maybe a ton of people applied because of the simpler requirements/lack of an entrance test, but failed to meet requirements such as taking Path. Still, I wish something would happen to raise that 24.... Thanks for all of the posts everyone : ) I'll keep my fingers double crossed for us all.
  10. On a different post someone from a previous year said they heard around October 6th. I can't happen soon enough though....
  11. Yikes! Last year they said they had 80+ applicants and now it is 177! I'll be saying some prayers and crossing my fingers for us... But there is not anything we can do now except just wait and hope things turn out they want we want. I wonder if more people applied because they do not require the HESI now. When I met with an someone from admissions in the spring she said almost half of the people who applied last year did not even meet the requirements,,,, lets hope that maybe more than half this year don't. Good Luck!
  12. I went to Tallahassee a couple of months ago and met with a lady from teh administration, which was really helpful. She said as long as we meet the requirements that we should be fine. She said the majority of people who apply do not even meet the requirements, some decline to attend, and those who meet requirements are most likely admitted. She really made me feel much better about getting in but that calmness has pretty much worn off now..... What other schools are you looking into? FSU is my first pick so if it doesn't work out it is going to be a long Spring waiting for the other schools to start in the summer....
  13. When did you apply for the program? I waited to apply until my Summer classes were over. So I just handed in everything last week. I am sure that I did not forget any part of the application process but I can't help but be nervous that something may have been forgotten or missed. Are you taking any more pre reqs during the fall? I am taking micro and lab, chem and the lab, and sociology during the Fall. Waiting is tough!
  14. I've read other posts from previous years. It seems like the find out mid October to November. Waiting it going to be hard!! I went there for my undergrad a few years ago and know a few people still living there so I am checking with them to see if they have an extra room or want a roommate. I have a couple of options but am trying not to worry about it yet as I don't know if I am in yet or not. Most likely I will be looking for a roommate for the year though. If we both get in I would definitely be interested in looking for a place with another accelerated student.
  15. Exactly! The tests in our class were timed and the wording was super complicated. I felt like I had run a marathon when I finished each test! Once I learned the skills to take the test they got much better, but they definitely took some getting used to. Congrats on finishing!!
  16. For those of you in Patho this summer, how did you do?! It feels good to have that class behind me. Hope y'all did great! :)
  17. I am in pathophysiology through Butler right now. I just finished the digestive test.. It was really hard. I am taking it from Elizabeth Luzar. I think she is a really good teacher, I have learned and been able to apply quite a lot to my other classes. But you are right, her tests are crucial! I am hoping to come out ok from this class, but we shall see. Is this the same class you are in?
  18. I met with the admissions a couple of months ago. She said that there were about 80+ applicants and they took in over 30+. She said that if you met the requirements that you would most likely get in. Most of the applicants failed to meet the requirements so they weeded them out quickly. Other did not accept the offer. Keeping my fingers crossed!
  19. Right now FSU accelerated accept path only accepts each spring (January). UM and FSU are the only two schools that I could find that accept for Spring. There are a lot of schools that accept for the Fall and Summer, but you will have to check there requirements. If you apply for FSU, you have to have 13 pre reqs, 9 of which have to be completed by the Summer, you apply in August, and can take up to 4 classes in the Spring. There is a min of how many sciences must be completed by the summer also, I think it is 4 classes (including if it has a lab), but I could be wrong. If I were you I would check out their website and other schools in the state. FSU's website is really pretty good compared to others. I went in and met with an advisor, which seems like it would be a good idea for you. When are you graduating with your BA and what is it in?
  20. Hey Just seeing if anyone else is taking the Patho class online through Butler. Earlier some of you mentioned you are, but on the class discussion I can't find any other FSU or Florida people. Just wondering. Once I enrolled in the class I was able to find other schools that offer it online, even one in FL, I think. I decided to stick with Butler though b/c I had already enrolled. Just seeing if anyone else is in the class that just started or has taken the class offered through Butler before.
  21. Ahh! Sorry!! My e-mail used to let me know when people responded on this post and then it just stopped! I must have unchecked a box somewhere. Please don't think I was ignoring you, I definitely would have helped you out before! I am sure by now you have figured out the whole enrolling in Butler process, so I won't go into detail about that. Are you taking the 8 week course that just started?
  22. Hi- I am currently enrolled, but just beginning, pathophysiology online via Butler CC. For those of you who have taken the course, especially if you have taken it through Butler, do you have any tips? I have taken science and health classes before but never online and never in such a short amount of time.... Any pointers would be great!! Thanks = )
  23. Butler Community College offers an online Patho class. I spoke with a counselor at FSU and they said it is accepted from this school. http://www.butlercc.edu/
