ivegotmusicheart, I fully understand. One of my good friends is on a waiting list, she's also accepted into bhson, I'm crossing my fingers she will be at Massasoit with me, it will be so last minute if she's called. I hope those who are not going to attend Massasoit let them know, as soon as they know. :)

CMA it is scary and exciting at the same time. Got my fingers crossed for everyone here. I have a classmate I am "pulling" for, hope she made it in as well. I was checking programs cost. If I am not mistaken for only the nurisng core courses it comes to around 7k-8k for both years? really? Massasoit's must be the least expensive RN program in the area! I hear it's a good program too. The letter is very generic, and doesn't ask for a deposit either. Not sure if this letter I recieved is for current students attending Massasoit. The dates are wrong on letter too. Does anyone know if there's an orientation before September? Any more hopefulls with news?

CMA, I looked on the Massasoit's class schedule on the website, looks like nrsg 1 class component is 2 days a week 10-11:50-definetly doable for me. I know clinicals at hospital are 2 days a week. I hope labs on Friday are not every Friday, it would be even nicer if labs were on same day as class. I will talk to the dept, about possiblity assigning me clinicals in area around the school so I can drop of my boys at the "Children's center". ohh so much to get reading for. yes it is exciting and also scary. It's great CMA you already work in the field, I hope to catch on quick. :w00t:

Yay!! :yelclap: Hope I get mine today too. CMA just keep reading it over and over so that you KNow it's not a dream. I know it's not going to be easy, but like you said CMA we will manage. I am Keeping track of all those who get accepted to know who my classmates will be, and I say to all those who don't get in this time, "not to get discouraged". BTW Quincy College's deadline is May 15 still, in case anyone's interested, going to "free up" my space there once I get Massasoit's letter. God I hope I can do this!!!

That's Great CMA! Just to let you know they get a thousand applicants for their nursing program not 400. Each year the number of applicants increases. I hope I can hack the program. Why does lab have to be on a different day than classes? Oh well that's a full 5 days the boys will need child care. Yes please let us know about the schedule, I wonder if we can req to be placed for clinicals in a location. It's great news! CMA- you applied only to Massasoit. Someone up there is definetly looking out for you. ?. I guess we will be meeting soon. Best wishes to all other "hopefuls"!

Ladies, I cannot believe it! I was logged in to my massasoit account to complete my online Hist course discussions and just by chance I checked my unofficial transcript and it said "Nursing Day program" I Got in!!!!! I cannot believe it! All my hard work truly paid off. I was turned down last year and went and "hit" the books some more, took more classes. I'm in! I cannot wait till I recieve my letter, my boys will be going to the massasoit "Childrens center" atleast 3 days a week. So don't give up girls. keep trying till you get in. Still in shock, I think Massasoit is the most competative MA ADN Nursing programs to get into in the Boston area. I hope the schedule is good. Anyone know the schedule? Are clinicals 2 days a week, and class component 2 days a week? Just to let you know, as soon as I get my letter I will call Quincy College and let them know I will be attending Massasoit, so a spot can "free up" over there for those applying. One journey over and another has just begun. I'll be staying tuned to this thread and hope to hear more good news here. Supporting each other is the best we can do :kiss bringing out the bubbly this weekend ! still cannot believe it.

Cally, I just read your other posts, I see your concern. Taking the accuplacer as soon as possible is the best I can advise you. Schedule it and Do some review on testprep.com or collegetest prep.com and click on accuplacer. if your scores fall short you can reschedule the reading section or any other section for retake right away for 30 days after (rule) if if they get all the applicants needed, it doesn't mean everyone one of themis going to attend QC. Your classes you are taking now, willyou be done with them by the application deadline? to have the transcripts to give QC?

Full Time Quincy College Sept 2012
Cally, did you schedule your accuplacer exam yet? Hopefully you have or will schedule soon. Schedule it for within a few days or week time, and study this weekend, particularly reading comprehension. Take the exam and hopefully you get a 95 or more and apply asap, the same day. Make sure you have your official transcripts. HS transcripts, test scores and whatever they need. I don't think QC needs a recommendation letter or personal statement. I was discouraged too and made it. Don't give up! you are taking chem now, have you done any other sciences? and do yo have other courses taken and out of the way? it's good to get them done.

hlj yes I completed all my reqs just this past Fall semestre. Micro was the last one I had to do, and it was tougher than I was expecting. I'm all done with my pre reqs this time around including Human and growth dev. when I applied last year, I still had a&p2 and Micro to take.

CMA-lpn you are very welcome. I don't know if algebra is a pre-req to stats, But What about statistics? instead if algebra? Thats a Math. even if you are going for an assoc's RN most BSN programs req Stats, that way you can get that out of the way if you pursue a BSN later. I enjoyed that as well. I took statistics at Massasoit with *****, he was great! even those uncomfotable with Math did well. he's very patient and thorough.

I got my acceptance letter!

CMA-lpn Yeah sure I don't know if I'll be going places, it sounds like I am doesn't it? But I can tell you where I've been-Just to let you know my GPA from 20 years ago, before I got "side tracked" marrying my awful ex husband was very low (2s) and held me back from even trying to pursue it. Now, 15 yrs later, finally divorced and now remarried with toddlerboy twins in tow, I finally have my head together and have been working hard for almost 2 yrs and 21 credits-maintaining a high GPA so I can stand out. Who knows how they look at grades from 20 years ago?

cally527, I think your scores are great. I don't think you need to take them again. CMA- call and ask to speak with **** (in admissions) - admission counselor for nursing. She's great and very helpful, and she had her name and signature on the acceptance letters. I think the parttime program starts in the spring but I am not sure. She told me their parttime program is 2.5 yrs and is even more competative to get in. I wonder where everyone else lives. I just happen to live in Quincy, don't know if that will make it more convenient as to where I am placed for clinicals. If you are going to take chemistry this summer, I took it in Summer 1 at Massasoit last summer, and was very nervous about taking it since I never had it in High School. Professor **** at massasoit was incredible, I highly recommend him.

Massasoit community college adn fall 2012
Wow. May! I paid my deposit to hold my seat at Quincy College yesterday . And but I'm not "betting the farm Ill be accepted into Massasoit" its very competative. Thanks for the comment CMA , seems you have a good plan yourself. I don't know what happens when they recieve an application from a student they turned down the year before. I hope and pray I make it through a Nursing program and become a nurse. I'm crossing my fingers for all of us here. Right now it's Quincy College for me, but I can always dream about massasoit can't I?

Massasoit community college adn fall 2012
So between 2 days of classes, 2 days of clinical and Friday's Lab, thats 5 days a week! I'll need childcare 5 days a week I guess. I heard so many nice things about the "children's center" there. would love the boys to go there 3 days a week and one day with my mom. Twins for Mom for more than a couple of days a week is alot . They have been on this long road with me, and they are actually looking forward to going... I did hear (read on QC board) that Quincy College has no homework, but has plenty of reading, whatever that means. Oh I am happy I got accepted somewhere thats a feasible option for me, but terrified at the same time. How hard will it be? is it doable? I am one of these people that HAS to study for good grades, its not automatic and easy. We must adjust to a whole new way of learning, it's not "textbook", hope they are patient with us, new nursing students. No matter where we go, we have to support each other. I have alot to learn and alot to give. I hope Massasoit takes me and the boys :). cma-to lpn, I hope you do get in, if you don't just keep on wit hthe pre reqs like I did, and reapply.

Massasoit community college adn fall 2012
tapeitup- thanks for the comment. yes i am lucky. i had less done last year and didnt get into massasoit or umass. now this time i have all the prereqs done and feel better about it. i applied to brockton hosp school of nsg and quincy college as well this time, and actually got into both. between the 2, qc is what i'll go with, cause it offers an assoc's and is less than half price of bhson. i wish i knew more about qc's program though. seems the rn program is tough everywhere, hard to get into and difficult once you are in as well. i was told if you fail out of a clinical there isn;t a chance to repeat it, you would have to reapply. i do not know how my friend is able to repeat it. if i get into massasoit-i'll be super lucky, thats where i am attending school now and i like it. i did look it up passing at qc is a 73, and at massasoit passing is a 78. i never thought it would come down to looking at passing req's in the 70s, because i work so hard and do well in school, but it seems we are all in the same boat-"all at risk" (good grades don't guarantee anything). nothings come easy for me, i've kept my head in my books for almost 2 years now, holding a 3.84-4 gpa, all while taking care of my active twin toddler boys. if i get into massasoit, their children center would be perfect for the boys. crossing my fingers:) i wish everyone luck getting in to nsg school. anyone knows how qc or massasoit compare to each other? which is a better program? just my own opinion- nursing students supporting each other and cohorting (grouping) together puts us at a great advantage and could help prevent us from failing. no one knows more what we will be going through than our fellow nursing students, so that should be encouraged and utilized. we are oing to need each other.:kiss

Full Time Quincy College Sept 2012
I have to be honest, I first scored 93 in reading, 106 in sentence structure and 107 in the Math. I was beside myself how I missed the reading req'd score by only 2 points! I took the reading a 2nd time and I got a 95! all that work, studying, and I even felt I did much better than that. That reading portion is really "tricky". I submitted my application that day 3/12. I went over the fact that I had a nice gpa (massasoit) in over 28 credits 3.85, and my recommendation from my volunteer time at church and recommendation from my A&P professor, and the admissions counselor kept saying the same thing. " we go mainly by the scores, and the reading portion first." "then after that we look at the other scores and your GPA and all the other stuff, if it's between me and another student who scored the same on the reading" How excited I was to get that acceptance letter, I really worked hard to get to this point and did not want to go to a school that wouldnt offer me an ASN and was too expensive -Brockton Hospital School of Nursing. So it's between QC and Massasoit. I will send my deposit in for QC, and I am happy doing it. I doubt I'll get into Massasoit it's even more competative. Just wish I knew more about QC's program. Seems like they are going thru alot of changes with scheduling, etc. Cohorting with other nursing students you will find to be very helpful and necessary to succeed and dare I say "survive"? . We can lean on and support each other. No one will know truly what we are going thru more than another student in the program, and I think we should use resource to our advantage. That being said, I look forward to attending QC with others on this board who are going too. :yelclap: So Cally 527, as distressed as I was with my 1st score-IT IS worth taking again, I almost didn't bother. It;s a good idea to apply when you are done with classes, they extended the deadline cause they are looking for more applicants. Would love to hear more about the program, schedule, etc any "takers"?

I am sure its alot of work. so nervous about the clinicals. heard of "A" students not passing a clinical-crazy. but the "A" I know this happened to is a bit "cocky" so I don't know. I spoke with the nursing director there she mentioned they are trying to make the class component one day a week instead of 2 due to students requests for that and keep lab on fridays and then ofcourse there are the clinicals. I have completed everything except the nursing core courses/clinicals. Thank God! Iwill take into to computer this summer. I never "clep" well out of anything, besides to clep costs as much as the course does :). This program is accredited but there's been some talk about their test to get in. Mollymarie, did the QC nsg student you talk to -like the program? think their nclex passing rate is in the 90s. Wonder how QC compares to massasoit, doubt i'll get into Massasoit though. I read on a post that was older, that financial aid didn;t cover the maternity/ob clinical. Hope thats changed.

Massasoit community college adn fall 2012
MCC really is my dream choice. I hope and pray I get in. However, I did hear it is a really tough program. One of the students that was with me in A&P 1 and 2, an A student got into it last fall, and just emailed me he did not pass med/surg clinical and will repeat it. I was shocked. He told me to be very prepared if I get accepted. scored 84% on teas-reading and high pre req GPA over 21 credits, with lower GPA from 20 years ago. and nice reference letter. crossing my fingers. Can't help wondering what the program is like? schedule? clinicals? I did get into Quincy College though, wonder how it compares to QC. :)
