  1. dont you dare let that discourage you...use that as ammo...let that anger turn into a passion to do better next go round. You want this bad, then get it girl. Getting signed up for a teas prep class is super smart and you are so lucky you can do that. I'm studying for my teas v that i will take in august and i havent found anyone who does teas v prep classes in my area. How did you prepare for the one you just took? Did you use the ATI booK? how much time did you have to study before your exam?:heartbeat
  2. I can relate to you all on SO MANY levels! I too had a really rough start once i got into college out of high school. I had to support myself and maintain my school work and it was hard when i had bills to pay. Work came over college and i failed out of my first university. That was a huge wake up call. I refused to let that get in my way and i went to a technical college where i graduated with a 3.4GPA. It definatley helped that they worked around busy schedules. I worked for several years, got married and i've been home with my kids for the last 4 years. And in the last 2 years, i've been wanting to do nursing. It's all i think about, all i want to do. I am lucky in that i have a very supportive husband who is letting my fulfil my dream but what sucks is that we are BROKE. Literally living pay check to pay check in order to support my going back to school. I"m studying really hard for the TEAS V test i will take in august and i'm terrified of the math section! AND deep down inside, i have the huge fear that i'm going to fail just like i did in my first experience in college. HUGE fear. But i have FAITH, and feel different this go round, it's going to be so much work but i'm READY. And i feel ready, unlike i did after high school.:redpinkhe
  3. Two weeks ago I met with the college and inquired about the program. Unfortunately, i was very turned off. I felt like I was interviewing the admissions consultant. I was also turned off by the fact that when i asked about clinicals over the phone, i was told one thing, then when i asked again during the meeting i was told another. They lady said they are associated with HCA hospitals. I asked for a list. She gave me a list with anything but. Clinicals are done in jails, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers, in charlottesville, Piedmont, and Cumberland Co. Which is NOT close to the richmond campus. The programs will run about $35K, and since it's brand new, their first class of 5 people graduated in december. And only 2 have been placed/passed the exam.
  4. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement! That means way more than you can imagine, especially this stage in the game! Great advice Kel3! I've already prepared myself for the math and continuous studying. The college that i'm attending is super competitive when it comes to nursing degrees. I was told that competitive is an understatement, so i need to bust chops. I'm looking foward to giving it my all, and finally doing something that i can be proud of!!
  5. This is my first time on this site and after spending an hour looking at all these postings, i'm sure glad i signed up. So much helpful information on here, as well as encouragement! I am currently a stay at home mom with an associates degree in IT/Web development. I've been thinking about nursing since i had my first child, and i'm finally in a position where i can go back! I am nervous, excited, determined to do this. School, (math in particular) has never come easy for me. But for the first time in my life I WANT to go to school! My goal is to be an L & D Nurse, and also specialize in Lactation consulting. I know i have a HARD road ahead of me, and i will be on here for lots of advice. Any new student advice would be MUCH appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!!:)
