  1. ooops!!! Sorry for not being clear with my question. I was indeed talking about patients with impending death. Thanks for your reply. I think I will be a nurse who bonds a little with the patients as thats the way that I am - I just think I will have to make sure I find a way to separate work and home well so I dont constantly take negative things home to dwell on. It wouldnt do the patients any good if I was sad all the time:)
  2. Hi everyone, I am pretty new here and still trying to get into nursing school. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I was wondering how you cope emotionally when you have terminal patients. Are they treated or cared for any differently to other patients? I guess its something that comes with practice but at this stage I really think I will have a difficult time not getting too attatched and becoming a blubbering mess!!! Any opinions would be appreciated
  3. Thanks for your hints and well wishes. I sat the test last week and it was easier than I was expecting which was a relief. They told us when we went in that 892 had applied in this area for this intake - AAHHH!!!! I thought there would be a lot of applicants but not quite that many! I got called for an interview which is next Monday and I am trying not to get my hopes up because like you say there are a lot of people to be interviewed. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and try my best - you never know. If I dont get in I dont know whether I should go and do the certificate III and try again for the next intake (I feel like if there is that many applicants each time I may never get in) or just bite the bullet and go straight to uni. I would really rather do EN first to gain experience and to enable me to earn some money to get through uni if/when I decide go on to do the RN. Does anyone have any idea which is the better option.
  4. Hi, I have decided to change careers from medical science to nursing :) and would like to become an enrolled nurse first so I have a way to earn money through the journey and also so I can make sure this profession is really for me before undertaking any further university study. I have heard it is very competitive to get into the enrolled nurse course and was wondering if anyone would have any helpful tips on getting into the course. I also believe that you have to sit a maths and English exam? Its so long since Ive done any maths I wonder if anyone has any ideas on areas which I should study.:uhoh21: Thanks in advance
