  1. PAC stands for port-a-cath. They are usually used to give chemotherapy. PAC's sit just under the skin and need to be accessed with a special needle. The needle has a little extension tubing attached to it with a clave on the end just like a hep lock. If a PAC is not accessed it may be hard to see. They are usually found on the upper chest wall or rarely the upper inner arm. A PAC is considered a type of central line. Always ask the pt permission before accessing their PAC. Some pt's only allow it to be accessed for chemo. Others are ok with you accessing it for non-chemo purposes.
  2. Hi, I am Haley and I am new to the site. I am currently a senior year nursing student in RI. I am soon to be married and have a 3 year old son. Much of my fiances family is planning on moving to Florida w/i the next year and we were considering the same. My only ? is about the pay rate in Fla. I have not been able to find any info. I have many jobs lined up here with a great pay rate but am so sick of N.E. I am expecting to take a pay-cut realizing the cost of living in Fla. in less than N.E. I know hourly pay rates are usually a private issue but I would really like the info and if any one would like to mail me directly at [email protected] it would be a great help. Also, are nursing jobs readily available in Fla.? I would like to stay in the ER or possibly oncology if this helps. On a final note, if no one would like to share there pay rate, maybe I could get some Fla. hospital phone # and speak with the facilities directly. Thank you so very much for any help.!
