  1. I did not get in, and to be honest I am stunned. I have almost 3 years experience in a psych hospital, before that I was in an ER, I have a 3.4 overall GPA and another non-nursing master's degree with a 3.8. I had a very strong essay and references including one from the CEO of the psych hospital where I work which is the largest inpatient facility in this state. Does UAB admit UAB grads and then in-state students first? That is the only thing I can think of, unless they went straight off GPA which is very short sighted IMO. I consider myself to be a very well-rounded candidate with a lot of life experience. This is disappointing to say the least. They told me to apply again for summer of '18, but I do not plan to apply to UAB again. Congrats to everyone who did get in.
  2. I don't think so. Post #15 by TRJSU, BSN, RN on April 21 said that his Blazernet showed him being in the Psych MSN program. That was a week ago.
  3. Congrats!! I'm still getting an error message, so I'm pretty disappointed right now. I applied for psych.
  4. No letter here yet.
  5. Yes I too am anxiously waiting. I've been practically driving myself crazy checking Blazernet.
  6. Can I just say this wait is killing me? How are you guys coping?
  7. Hi everyone, I just wanted to jump on this thread and say I also applied to UAB for fall 2017. I applied for the psych NP track and did not choose a 2nd option. The deadline is this Friday, and they said we will find out decisions 60 days after that. I think the waiting might kill me! Good luck to everyone.
  8. Hi everybody! I got my letter yesterday, too! I'm in at East Jeff for fall. I am absolutely stunned bc when I didn't get in at the BR campus, I assumed I wouldn't get in at any of them, especially after I read the thing about not accepting credits older than ten years. But then the letter came, and now I'm just over the moon excited about it. Yes, CKP, God is very good. What a wonderful Easter present to receive. I can't wait to meet everyone else who got accepted and get started on our journey. Good luck to you all. Happy Easter. :)
  9. Wow, your plan B sounds pretty darn sweet to me! Congrats and good luck.
  10. I know I totally overthink things, and I get a little obsessed sometimes. If they haven't said anything to anyone else about credits being too old, then maybe it's not really a hard and fast rule.
  11. okay, so here's something scary (for us older students, at least.) I was going back through the OLOL information just to make sure I know exactly what I need to take, and I came across this: Transfer credits completed 10 or more years prior to enrollment at OLOL College and credit earned from another college or university while on academic dismissal or suspension are not accepted in transfer. OMG! so I freaked out for a minute. I mean, I graduated college in 1997. Yes, I'm old. That would mean I would have to re-take EVERYTHING! Then I kept reading: Students may petition to have courses accepted in transfer that were not accepted as a result of an initial evaluation. And it also says: Acceptance of transfer credits earned at another accredited college or university toward degree requirements is at the sole discretion of Our Lady of the Lake College. Whew! I assume they accepted my initial credits (regardless of their age) bc I got that letter checking off the credits I already earned. Crisis averted. But still...that first line is worded so matter-of-factly - "are not accepted." Sounds like no ifs, ands, or buts. Like if someone just looked really closely at my application, they would throw out those credits. And I don't want to call and ask cause that would just raise a red flag on my paperwork. Any thoughts?
  12. Fumanchuesday, Thanks so much for the info on the nutrition course at ULM! I'll be taking that online during the Maymester. My advisor warned me that taking nutrition and elementary statistics might be too much because they are "hard classes," so I was a little worried. But now I'm not. I need the math class for southeastern. I'm taking Medical Terminology right now, and it is uber easy. I also graduated from ULM. Anyway, thanks again for the info and good luck to you all.
  13. Trenia, yes I plan to apply in the fall for the Spring semester. I feel so much better today. I didn't have enough pre-reqs done for OLOL. So i'm pretty sure i wont get in to any of their accelerated programs. By September I will have finished everything I need for the SELU application. If I am not mistaken, that program is an accelerated BSN which works out better for me since I plan on going on to get an NP license. And I am 35, which feels old sometimes, but you're right. What is a few more months in the long run? Anyhoo, everyone have a great weekend. And again congrats to those who got accepted! :)
  14. I applied to BR and the two New Orleans programs, also. I guess I will apply to SELU's accelerated program in the fall. I'll have all my pre-reqs done by then. Plus it's much cheaper than OLOL. I know everything happens the way it is meant to. I just had to be upset for a little while. I really hope you get into the program at the General. :) I have to remind myself that this is not the end of the world. I'm not going through what the people of Japan are. That helps me put it all into perspective. Again, good luck to everyone.
  15. LSUPanda, I didn't get in either. I didn't have all my pre- reqs done, but I still thought I had a really good chance. I'm so upset. My husband was shocked. I don't have a backup plan. Guess it's time to get one. I really am happy for everyone who got in! Good luck.
  16. I didn't get a letter, either. I'm starting to feel really sick about this. But good luck to you all.
  17. Nothing in my mail, either. Fingers crossed for everyone! :)
  18. Hi all! Thanks for the welcome messages. I applied to BR as my first choice, but I'll take any of the Accelerated programs if I get in.
  19. Hi guys! I have been reading the forum for a while, and I finally decided to join the conversation. I have applied to the ASN Accelerated program for fall '11. I'm very nervous, too, because this is my first choice due to the short time frame. I know it will be intense, but I'm really looking forward to finding out if I'm accepted or not. I also feel like life is on hold until the letter comes. I promise I will post as soon as I get my letter. :) Good luck to everyone!
