  1. I'm accepted too! Congrats everyone!
  2. Good luck from me too! I was very nervous during my interviews, but they were really very relaxed ( I just wasn't). Next week will be here before we know it!
  3. Did they say during Duke Days that they're going to offer 100 people admission for 72 spots? I wasn't sure if I heard that correctly. If so, that makes our chances seem better than I thought!
  4. Great. Thanks lavigs!
  5. Can anyone who has already interviewed tell me what you wore and if you went outside at all during the day? I think I'm going to wear a suit (skirt and jacket) and heels but I wanted to see what kind of activities would be happening throughout the day (inside/outside, sitting/standing). Thanks!
  6. Here is what the lady in admissions responded when I asked if not being able to take developmental psych would affect admissions decision: Hilary, This course really doesn't alter the admission decision, so if you aren't able to take it, it won't affect your chances of being accepted.
  7. Thanks for the reply oaktown! I will probably email M in admissions just to double check.
  8. Did you guys all take Developmental Psych? I am registered for it (to take it in the fall), but I don't know if I'll be able to take it with my schedule so I was thinking about dropping it, but I don't know if this will affect my acceptance. It is a recommended class, not a required one, but I if I get accepted and I don't take it--do you think they would take it back? I wouldn't think it would be a big deal, but I don't want to risk anything--does anyone know anything about that?
  9. My interview confirmation email was in my inbox when I woke up this morning. Does anyone know what a group interview is? Is that where they interview several candidates at the same time?
  10. KC- I'm going on the first too! I haven't decided on wardrobe yet-- I'm thinking maybe a pencil skirt and suit jacket that I can take off if it gets hot. Speaking of tuition-- does anyone know how much the program is going to cost (not including living expenses)?
  11. I got mine too :)
  12. Hey! I came up with 56% because I divided 150 by 66 and then subtracted that from one- which is not correct at all! It's 44%; I have been doing too much statistics (and even that doesn't justify it). Good luck everyone! I'm trying hard not to compulsively check my email.
  13. I was thinking they would take more too--that's 56%. At least if we get an interview we'll know we still have a chance!
  14. Hi Bicirose! Welcome! Thanks for the info that we're going to notified about interviews on 7/11. That's a little bit sooner than I thought! I'm a teacher-hoping to be nurse too. Good luck to you!
  15. How long were we thinking before interview notifications? One to two weeks?
  16. I don't know--I was thinking I had that problem because of my transcript for my class that isn't over yet, but I'm not sure what else it could be. If she said it's complete though I feel like I can officially wait for an email from them...and hopefully a good one!
  17. Everything is completed on my application except for one transcript that hasn't been received because there won't be any grades on it until I finish my summer class at the end of July. I emailed the nice lady in the admissions office and she said my application was complete and that the transcript not being there yet wouldn't keep my application from getting reviewed. I don't know if my status on the website will change from "incomplete" to "complete" but she said it was complete so I'm guessing that's OK.
  18. Has anyone heard anything about interviews yet? I just submitted my application yesterday and am waiting for my transcripts to get to Duke for it to be complete. Does anyone know when they notify you about interviews? Is it mid-late July?
  19. Yes--I'm from, and currently live in North Carolina. I live in Raleigh right now and I really like it so I'd rather not move (or at least I don't want to move anywhere outside of NC). My dad is from Portland and we've been up there a fair amount--I definitely like Oregon a lot too! I'm hoping to stay here for school and work at a hospital around here as well. You'll have to keep me posted on how your application process goes--maybe I will see you at Duke some time!
  20. Hi Michelle! I'm glad there's someone else on here who's applying at the same time for the Spring 2012 class! I don't mind telling you about my background at all. I graduated from UNC in 2007 with a 3.85 GPA. My major was elementary education. I started teaching straight out of college and have taught fifth grade for two years and fourth grade for two years. I recently started volunteering at Rex hospital, and I'm in the process of getting CNA certified and finishing up my prerequisite classes. I have As in the prereqs I have taken so far, but I still need to take several (which I will hopefully get As in as well). When I submit my application I'll be currently finishing Stat and A&P II at the end of the summer session, and I'm planning to take a basic Sociology class and Micro in the fall. I will not have take Growth and Development and Nutrition by the time the program starts so I don't know if that will hurt my application or not. If I don't get into the spring cohort I'm planning on applying again for the fall. I'm also applying to UNC and maybe Winston Salem state, but I'm not sure about that one. I really want to go to Duke. I'm hoping I'll get in at least the second time I apply...Where else are you applying?
  21. Hey everyone! I was wondering if there was anyone out there applying to Duke's ABSN program for the spring or fall class in 2012. I'm going to apply, but can't decide if I should apply for the spring or the fall. If I apply for the Spring class- I will still have 3 prereqs to finish (micro, soc, and stat) which I can finish before the program starts. Is it crazy to apply to Duke with 3 outstanding prereqs? Should I wait until December and apply for Fall 2012 instead? At that time I will be currently taking the last of the prereqs. Any advice would be helpful! Especially if there's anyone who has gotten into Duke with 3 prereqs to go...
  22. Hi everyone, I would like to appply to the ADN program at Forsyth Tech eventually. I'm in the process of getting my CNA 1, studying for the TEAS, and trying to figure out what classes I will need to have taken before I can apply. I don't completely understand the points system. I graduated from UNC in 2007 with a 3.85 gpa. I'm not really sure if that matters or not. I have take the GRE and got a 530 in math and reading and a 5.5 on the writing. I know I will have to take at least Anatomy and Physiology 1 before applying, but I'm wondering what other courses I will have to take. I took basic psych in college and two basic English classes and got A's in them so I feel like it would be redundant for me to have to take those again just to get points. Can anyone help me and tell me how this points thing works and tell me which classes I should take before applying? Thank you! Hilary
