Contract help
My employer recently changed the terms of my employment and is stating that one week of on-call time is built into our salary, despite previously being compensated with days off. I have no formal contract or employment agreement (its a large hospital and no APP has these) and HR is unable to produce documentation of such clause. I am not sure how to advocate for myself. Any advice?

University of South Florida Program Evaluation
I think usf takes about 60-70 in the fall, another class in the summer, not sure if it is the same size or smaller. All of the public schools are pretty tough to get into, the GPA is 3.2 to apply I believe but you most likely will not get in with anything less than a 3.6 if not closer to 3.8. Apply everywhere you can and stay open minded.

University of South Florida Program Evaluation
Hey there! I am at USF now and overall I am happy with the program. It has been super crazy because I am in the accelerated program and have no time to think. It is challenging that is for sure. The turn over rate for the instructors has been crazy, no consistency and it is very disorganized because of it. Part of why they have a 100% pass rate is because they make all of their student buy Kaplan. You can buy Kaplan on your own no matter what school you go to. Bottom line, just go where ever you can get in! Good luck!

All Children's PICU
Picu they shoot for 2-1 unless higher acuity sometimes 3-1. There are a lot of pts that are pretty stable and could go to the floor but they still go to PICU because they ALWAYS go to the Picu and the intensivists know their condition the best. Cvicu is 2-1 or 1-1 never seen a triple there. This is just from clinicals there.

The November 2011 Residency class had 133 applicants and they accepted 12 (this was stated at the October Nursing Practice Counsel). So YES it is very competitive . I agree that you should get hired as a tech or a HUC. =) good luck
