  1. While I was going through the old posts on allnurses, someone posted the contents from the skill kit. This is from a year ago so it could or couldn't be accurate but it's probably very similar to what we will be purchasing. I'm just posting it because someone was inquiring about it on our facebook page=) 2 lever lock cannulas 2 blunt cannulas 20gx 1.25 IV catheter 10cc syringe - without needle 1cc insulin 27gx.5 syringe 3cc 22gx1.5 syringe 1cc 25gx5/8 tb syringe Twin pack 22gx1.5 needle 30cc flush 2 practi amps 100cc IV bag 10 drop IV set Secondary IV set Interlink ext set IV start kit Stomach tube (Levin) Insuling training pack Tegaderm 1626 Tegaderm 1624 Trach kit Dressing change tray Foley catheter tray Wound care tray Red biohazard bag Box alcohol preps Isolation gown Calculator Mask Tape measure Penlight Tweezers 1" transparent tape
  2. The polos are from Florida Specialty. They have our Nursing Student logos on them. My paper had directions but I don't have it handy. You can also order them online I believe.
  3. Does anyone else think we should change the name of the facebook page to FSCJ Nursing Class Fall 2012.....or something like that but shorter? Just thought we should specify the class or something so other students aren't joining thinking it's for all FSCJ nursing students.
  4. Thanks to everyone posting on where they are finding their stuff at. I'm going to head out to Florida Specialty tomorrow because I don't want to buy the wrong size polos. I have already bought 2 pair of white scrub pants. One pair of Dickies and the other KOI. I love the KOI ones. They are comfortable and I think they are very cute. They cost a little more than the other ones (29.99 at life uniform) but I think they are going to last a long time. I also tried on some Grey Anatomy one's that were super comfy and soft. I may have to go back for them later since they too were 29.99 and I didn't want to shell that out today. I decided on sneakers for my shoes. I bought some completely white sketcher work shoes from zappos. If they don't fit at least I know I can return them for free. Also, I noticed that the scrub tops from Meridy's seem to run huge. When I clicked on the "what's my size" button, it asks for your bust size. FYI: a 34 is an xxs. I just find it a little weird because I can tell you that my friend who is a 34 DD CANNOT where my tops! So this should be interesting how these are going to fit us all. I just imagine some people are going to look ALOT better in their scrubs than others depending on the cut of these. Oh well....We will still rock it!!!:rckn:
  5. About the stethoscope.... Personally I am going to get the best that I can afford. I would hate to spend $30 on one and then use someone else's in class one day and be amazed at the difference. I have read many good things on the Littman brand. Even if I don't go with the Cardio one, I may go for the SE which is about $80.
  6. HAHAHA!! Looks like I will be seeing you there. That is, if you are going tomorrow. I am happy to just get it over with!!
  7. I think you are right. I think we graduate in December of 2012. Wow!!! It felt great to type that!!
  8. From what I've been reading...the usual hospitals in the pool are.... Orange Park Medical Babtist Nassau Babtist Downtown Memorial St. Vincents
  9. I am seriously so sorry that you have worked so hard and now have to decline. There's always next semester. However, I do know that many people are doing student loans to help them through the next 16 months. I know I hate being in debt....but.....in the end, I think it is going to pay off. It's GOOD debt! Haha. Whatever your choice, I wish you the best!!!!
  10. I think the best thing for us to do is search through the old threads to find the cheapest places to have all of our titers done. I plan on calling O.P. Medical tomorrow to see about the CPR class since it's closest to me. I know that there is a lot for us to complete, but we also need to take a moment to be happy and proud of ourselves!! I'm sure we have all had support by our family and friends but it is an accomplishment for each person on here to have pushed and made it this far!!! Be Proud Of Yourselves!!!!!! Now.....get back to work!!! P.S. I would start thinking about which hospital you want to start having your first term clinicals at. After the "lottery" this is going to be one of the things you are going to have to choose. I for one don't want to end up with a hospital that is 40 miles away!! I think you are supposed to pick your top 3.
  11. I started a new thread under for those accepted. Maybe we can help support each other getting everything done. FSCJ Fall 2011 Accepted Good luck to those still waiting for their letters!!!!
  12. I figured I would go ahead and start a new thread. Maybe we can help each other get through these next couple months of scrambling around. For now....let's just celebrate!!!! :nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse:
  13. Mailman just came!!! I'm in! Clay county (out of county) with 222.6 points!!
  14. I applied to UNF for summer. Got the interview but didn't get past that. It bummed me out. However, I do believe that everything happens for a reason. I was really concerned about all of the volunteer hours students have to complete at UNF. Life and school is stressful and time consuming enough without the added work. I know that community service is important and it helps getting hands on experience, but I was hearing things like 4-6 hours a week.....that's basically like taking another class! Anyways, my wonderful fiance is overseas and the sooner I get a job as a nurse, the sooner he can come home! Right now he is the only bread winner. :heartbeat That is definitely a motivator to finish fast. I can always go back for my BSN online while I'm working. So.....now that it's July, I guess we can start the countdown? Perhaps I should warn the mailman that in 2 weeks, I WILL start stalking him.
  15. Honestly, I didn't try SJRCC this time but will if I don't get in. I really have my heart set on FSCJ due to all of the great things I've heard about the program. Just anxiously waiting for these next 2-4 weeks to go by. I hope we know sooner than later!
  16. So this is my first post although I have been reading a lot from these forums for months. This is my first time applying to the nursing program. I completed my AA last semester. I am applying with 222.6 which I would normally be happy with however.....I'm a Clay resident. I know there was a Clay County applicant from "Spring 2011 hopefuls" who didn't get in with 223. So, I am playing the waiting game now just counting down the days and soon will start stalking the mailman. I'm really just so thankful for this forum because it has informed me about so many things. It's also nice to know I am in the same boat with so many other people!!! It's July 1st.....we will know this month!!!!
  17. 8:30 as well for me. Now the nerves really set in.
  18. I, too, am applying for the Summer 2011 program. The interview letters were sent out yesterday (Tuesday)
