My dental hyginenist was surprised that I was an RN.
As a Nurse Manager that routinely assists staff in patient care activities I have had both patients and staff members amazed that I "will do that type of work". To me it is sad that some nurses and nurses in management/administration "won't" do patient care because they think it is beneath them....what they end up missing is the only real part of nursing that is gratifying.......

Some people have the misfortune of having a bad combination of arrogance and ignorance when viewing the world: you have to accept the fact that these individuals are poor souls and be grateful that you are not one of them........

Psychiatric nursing in other parts of the country
i am a psychiatric nurse who has practiced in three states: arizona, ohio and now michigan. what i am curious about is this: in other states how are the mental health services? in michigan it is the pitts. reduced funding has led to 4 state facilities still open, too few group homes and community support and an abundance of homeless mentally ill. basically there is no functional mental health model in the state. what is it like elsewhere?
