  1. What about ER/trauma/flight nurse? Thats me. My husband currently owns his own company and will be selling it along with our real estate. He wants to utilize his comercial helicopter pilot license there. My husband and I are coming actually next week to house hunt. Roland, we are moving from MIami. Oahu cannot be anymore exspensive than here. Plus miami has one of the lowest pay rates in the country. We are looking to downsize and "decompress". The locals and crime cannot be any worse than here with 80% hispanic and about 4million people! Houses, To get a zero-lot line 3bed cookie-cutter is 300K and up! My husband should be ok, he is also 6'3", big, bald and dark skinned. My son is also 7yrs old and tan (they are hispanic) and they both are martial arts. my son is a green belt in kenpo. Youngest in the class. We are quiet laid back people though. Thats why we are trying to leave miami. We are doing the same thing. Taking our paid for cars with us. Maybe we can share info. We are also looking at moving to the north. Like I said, we are going next week to house hunt and also fly to the big island to take a look over there.
  2. HI, Where do I start about Miami?! First your asking someone who is trying despretly to move! If you have never been here I would try a travel/temp position first. Miami is the kind of place you either hate it or love it. The pay is the lowest in the states, most of the hospitals the nurses are treated like crap. (from what I've been told from friends) I work for a private hospital and we have alot of admin. problems. However, Jackson the public hospital I heard treats their nurses good and they are paid more. Also, there is the option of working in broward county. Alot of our nurses are quiting and going up there to the new hospitals. And then you are not that far from the miami life if thats what you are looking for. You also have the "people" element. 80% is hispanic and you get all kinds of econonomical groups and they treat us like s*&t. I was just assualted last night! I have also known alot of foreign nurses who come from canada and austraila and they have turned around and left. and others have stayed. Areas to live in are (Quiet)south miami, kendall, miami lakes, doral, country walk (hip spots) aventura, miami beach. Stay away from, North miami, opalocka, hialeah, overtown, downtown, feel free to email me and i will tell you where i work and some other hospitals.
  3. Hi, I'm an Er nurse here in Miami. I don't know where you are but, S. Fl is very busy and very congested. I personally do not like it. But on the other hand P Pines and northern broward is alot better that Miami and Ft. Laud. There are more "uppper class" neighborhoods and houses and more of a "country" feel up that way. Davie is nice, they have horse ranches etc. But from a nurses stand point, all the freaks end up here! I'm a pysch intake and out of 550beds 3 floors are devoted to pysch. We have ALOT of them here! email me if you would like more info.:)
  4. Hi, I am an RN in the ER here in Miami. My husband has decided he wants to move. But, we don't know what island is for us. Are there plenty of nursing jobs in Hawaii? We will be coming to visit in Oct. Thanks for any help anyone can give.
