Safe sleep aid for alzhiemer/dementia residents

I have been following a NP that works in the NH and have noticed that she has ordered Restoril has a sleep aid before. Maybe you can inquire about that with the Md.

    Far from new grad

I'm actually trying to get out of home health. I think this is what's hindering me from a hospital job. For some reason HR and recruiters feel that "home health" is not enough med-surg to work in a hospital setting....

    Far from new grad

OriginalWmm, I'm definitely working on that. I noticied that HR is extremely sloooooooow. The nurse recruiters are not as eager to hire nurses as they use to be.

    Far from new grad

Mom to 4, Unfortunately, I tried the local agencies. They are looking for someone to just jump in on any floor and work. They are not interested in offering me orientation. That sucks!!!

    Far from new grad

dance4life, Yep, Indeed.com is my newest best friend. I have applied to multiple listings, the process is just taking a little longer than I expected. Thanks for your reply.

    Far from new grad

Hello all, I have been a RN for the past 6 1/2 years. My first RN job was in the Emergency Department. I worked there for approx 7 months, then went into home health. I worked home health in the field for 1 year. Since then I have been in the office setting dealing with home health. To make a long story short, I am now getting ready to start NP school in the Fall. I am trying to get back in the hospital setting so that the experience can help me through NP school. I have applied to several part-time/prn jobs but so far no reply. I need help because I am really trying to work only 2-3 days a week while in Grad school. Seems like working in home health has really decreased my chances of getting prn work. I know I will need orientation, I am willing to do this. Any suggestions???

    Future fall 2011 fnp students

missvictoriat, I rented several of my books for Undergrad at collegebookrenter.com. You can rent for 30,60, 90 days or a full semester. The prices were very reasonable. That is why I am eagerly awaiting my booklist, so that I can go ahead and start pricing/buying the books.

    Future fall 2011 fnp students

Hi missvictoriat, I will also be starting the FNP program in the Fall. I live in MS, so I will be attending Alcorn State University. The program is mostly online, with a few meetings on campus. The things I have been doing to get prepared for the Fall is: Completed the FAFSA form, search for scholarships, trying to find a part-time/prn job because I really want to focus on school and therefore cut back on working, I have really relied on allnurses.com to give me an idea as what to expect in the program. I have also been trying to locate a good source to buy my books. I am really thinking about renting my textbooks to save money, but purchase the ones I may need as a reference later on. I am also very excited to start this new adventure. Maybe we can keep in touch, because I am quite sure we both will need the support. I don't know how to PM yet.:yeah: Congratulations!!

    NP classes

Thanks for the response NauRN. I actually thought about starting the program part-time to see how stressful it would be, then maybe increase to full-time. But I guess I will make the final decision after talking with my advisor. Have you heard of any particular classes to take together ex. Pharmacology and Patho. I've been told by several people that these two classes can be very difficult if taken together. Any input?

Thanks Buster4, I need all the encouragement I can get. And yes, my program will be primarily online except one or two campus meetings.. Appreciate your input.

    ASU NP program

Hello everyone, I have been accepted into a Nurse Practitioner program for Fall 2011. I am a little nervous but ready to get started at the same time. I just completed a RN-BSN program on-line and worked full time. I know it may not be possible for me to continue to work full time in Grad school. I wanted some insight/suggestions on what classess I should take together or classes to avoid taking during the same semester. I plan to do the first semester part time (2-3 classes) just to get a feel for the program. Any suggestions or advice you can give me on this. BTW: I am attending a local university where the full time program is approx 5 semesters. I have also posted this in the Advanced Practice thread, but was hoping someone in MS is currently or has already completed ASU NP program. Thanks:D
