  1. I still consider myself a new graduate, but technically I guess I'm not anymore. I have been working for a LTC/rehab facility here in Raleigh for about a year now. I'm from TN as well...I am making about the same as if I were at a hospital here ($21.00/hr) I guess it depends on where you work at.
  2. Congrats! I wish you the best of luck!! I got hired at a Rehab facility in Raleigh after looking for what seemed like ages, and they just taught me on the fly about IV insertions. We don't do to many where I work at as most people end up getting PICC lines, but I have done a few of them. They didn't teach me in school either. I went to school in TN. I hope you get the job! :)
  3. I know how you feel. It is really tough to find jobs these days. I first moved her a year ago. I was pregnant and trying to find a job. Talk about being stressed out! I finally got tired of looking online and doing online applications, so I started walking in places and asking if they are hiring. I didn't get a job at a hospital like I wanted to, but I did get offered a job through a long-term care facility/rehab facility in Raleigh. I work for Kindred. I work the rehab section, so much more acute, lots of hands on stuff to do. I have learned so much, but I am once again seeking job opportunities within a hospital setting. I hope this year of experience I have received working will help me with finding a job. I wish you the best of luck. I recommend just making a list of LTC facility and such and driving around to them and just going in and asking them if they are hiring. If they are in need, they will tell you. Best of luck to you!
  4. I just moved to NC from TN not that long ago. It took me 6 months to find a nursing job. I am currently a part time RN at Hillside Nursing Home. I really want a full time position, but I am unable to find any. I am also a new graduate. I hope things go better for you than it did me. Good luck!
  5. I have applied to all three of those hospitals, and I haven't had an interview yet. When you said you called Nurse Recruitment, do you mean you called the hospitals human resources? I just now applied for SNIP at Duke, and I sent my resume stating I was interested in General Medicine. Do you think I should call the hospital to see when they plan on doing interviews? I don't want to sound bossy or anything, I just really need a job. I really want to work at Duke. I have heard wonderful things about the hospital.
  6. That is wonderful to hear! I now have a little bit of hope for myself. Good luck and Congratulations!!!!
  7. My name is Kayla, and I recently moved to this area from Tennessee. I graduated in May of 2010, and I have my RN. Since August, I have been looking for a job in this area, but I have not had any luck. I am getting concerned that I won't ever find a job. It seems to me that you have to know people here to get a job. I have applied to many places and for many different positions, and I have not had a single interview. I am beginning to feel like a failure. My husband just got out of the military, and at this moment in time, we have no income. Any advice on what I should do? Thanks so much!
