  1. Obtaining a State License is the easy part. Finding a decent job at a reputable hospital is the hard part. I received my BSN at received my license from the State of Texas with no problems with 2 misdemeanor offenses. Hospitals definitely discriminate in regards to criminal background offenses. I've been actually "offered the job" pending background check, and what do ya know: offer taken back. These places are not equal opportunity employeers.
  2. Yes, you should be concerned about licensure, but you really should be concerned about finding a job there after. As a new graduated there is a lot of competition for jobs, and any kind of criminal record would definitely hurt you. When I graduated in 1999 with a BSN it was "nurses" market, now it's an employer's market despite all the job openings you may come across. I have a criminal record and it's amazing how employers discriminate, despite my impecable professional references. Truly sad!!!
  3. If you can obtain a licence from your state's BON would be the first step, but employeers despite what you may here will not hire you solely on the basis of you criminal history. Ive been "hired" several times pending background check, and once the background check came back=> offer taken back! That's just the way it is.
