  1. Yes! Thank you for replying! I am glad you like Nicu! I think I am heading in that direction for sure if I can snag a job! They have plenty of internships for NICU in the hospital I work in just no pediatrics. Maybe I'll start in nicu!
  2. Let me start by thanking anyone that wants to read it and give good advice. I am applying for graduate nurse jobs. The areas I am interested are as follows: Neonatal ICU, Pediatrics, and Neuro ICU, I would even work neuro tele. My ultimate goal is to be a nurse practitioner and I have a special place in my heart for pediatrics. If PEDs was an option to choose I would do so but the hospital I have a contract with is not a pediatric hospital so I planned on working at my contract hospital in one area finishing my BSN then picking up a PRN position after a year in pediatrics. My question is would the best experience be in the NICU to start or should I go into ICU? I feel like I am curious about NICU and it may spark an interest to stay in NICU all together but I do not want to miss out on ICU experience either because it is so specialized. Has anyone actually done the transition from NICU to PICU or Peds? I heard that a lot of times NICU nurses are floated to Peds anyway. Which area gives me the best chance to get hired at a pediatric hospital? Thank YOU!!
  3. Yes I totally get that. I was not implying I could get any position sorry for the misunderstanding. The way that the internships work for my cohort we have already signed contracts to work for 2 years in one area but you need to make sure that you apply for an area that you really want because when you get the first offer and you should not turn down. So I am pretty much trying to figure out whether I should make my first choice for offers NICU or ICU.
  4. Hi People! I am about to embark on my first nursing job in my career and I need some advice. I am finishing up my last semester in my RN and this summer I have to apply to internships. I am sponsored by the hospital I work for and can pretty much apply for any floor I want to including ICU, ER, NICU. I currently work in a busy ER as a paramedic starting IVS and foleys. PRN I work at a psych center for adults and teenagers and have been doing that for 6 years. I have been thinking a lot lately about getting my nurse practitioner especially in psych because that is where my strengths lie. The areas I am currently interested in are NICU, L and D, and ICU. I know how it is for some to get into NICU nursing I think I would love that but I do not feel like it would compliment my future goals of PHMHNP but I may change to Neo NP later if I love it that much. I am so afraid of being too specialized in NICU so should I start in ICU as a new nurse to get experience. I think ICU would be a good learning experience. Or should I go for it and choose NICU? Thanks so much!!
  5. I would email the Dean directly telling her about your situation. Hope it clears up for you!
  6. Any THR people know if we can get our uniforms somewhere besides orientation and do they have a patch ? Thanks!
  7. Nice to meet you! I'll be in that program too. From what I am understanding there is only 20 of us in the THR program and they are making a Facebook for traditional el centro/ north lake. We have a different orientation. Congrats on your acceptance!
  8. Hey we are gonna be classmates! Congrats!! I mailed mine too but I did certified return receipt they are going to send an email from Kanora about fingerprinting soon after I think. Maybe email ronchelle and ask her. She's very helpful if you email her.
  9. I work 36 hour night shifts 7p-7a every weekend I hope it works for me too! I was a bit worried. I don't have kids tho. I am hopeful it's possible with the partnership programs. According to others on here it's possible!

  13. I got my acceptance letter!! I'm sooo happy ! I'm in THR program yay!!!
  14. Mine did not come yet although I dreamt about it my mail only comes once a day. I cannot wait to check. Nursegirl did you get the email saying all is good from sentry? I know how you feel I got denied last semester bc of their error with a transcript I had to go up there 4 times to fix it. I would go straight to the dean especially if it's the third time. Maybe you would get in twu or uta? If I'm denied I am applying to a lot of schools this time. Keep positive and don't give up !!
  15. Congrats guys!! My letter didn't come yet I called and it's bc I only applied to THRs program
