  1. I lost the distal phalange of my right index finger when I was working on a farm and encountered unagreeable heifer. Now I am back in the city taking pre-reqs for nursing school and am worried that this mishap might enter with my qualifications as a nurse, most importantly dexterity in IV administration/catherization. Does anyone know a nurse with a similar defect who can perform these duties well? Does anyone have an opinion in general?
  2. I need advice and there are so many factors to weigh in this decision, any help would be great. I'm 26 yr-old, have a B.S. in Animal Biology(pre vet curriculum) from the University of Florda and am considering the SPC RN BSN or SPC LPN to RN program. I did very bad in organic chemistry, and average in other prevet req. science courses such as genetics, physics, biochemistry, chemistry, alas did not make the cut for vet school. It wasn't my lack of aptitude that hindered, rather some personal issues that I have overcome to the point that I was getting all A's in my last couple semesters at UF. My prereq GPA for nursing would be 3.4, if I get A's in A/P. I was told that SPC is very competitive, admitting only students with pre-req GPA over 3.7. Would my B.S. degree help or hinder me in the admissions process? Will having taken many nursing pre-req's as honors courses(SPC,ENC, PHI) be taken into consideration when considering my pre-req GPA? Should I do LPN at P-Tec, and go for the waiting list for LPN-RN, how long is the waiting list, will I find a decent entry level position as an LPN while I wait? Since I'm pregnant would it be a good idea to wait until I have the baby before starting an LPN program?
