Running RN

  1. Hello! So I was a December 2009 BSN graduated and have yet to land a job. The area I live in isn't really hiring new grads, let alone ones that didn't graduate from their Nursing schools. The one interview I had in this area, I went in being told by the agency I was interviewing for RN, night shift, etc, etc.. The DON for the place I went to (who, btw didn't even hold a Bachelor's) told me she would orient me as an LPN since I had no experience. I was upset for the discrepancy between what the agency said (we had many conversations about how I was new and how they had just hired many new grads and it wouldn't be an issue since I had a Bachelor's) and what I was told by the DON and was crushed. It would do me no good to be oriented as an LPN when I'm an RN. Anyways, I received a call about a week and a half ago for a hospital I applied for 5 hours away. I told them I needed two weeks time to get down there because I work 7 days a week between 2 jobs right now so I had to give sufficient time to my jobs to request off. The HR recruiter didn't seem to mind at all and gave me all the information I needed and set up two interviews for that day (HR and the manager of the unit). Since then, the position I applied for has been taken down off their online postings. I don't want to be set up for a disappointment after my last interview, but don't want to overanalyze things at the same time. Do hospitals do this if they have been inundated with applicants? think they've found someone? or they've hired someone? I'd like to think if they've filled the position they'd tell me not to come since I'm having to pay for the gas, hotel, and food! Can I get some insight please!!
