  1. Hi everyone, I'm an OR nurse looking to immigrate to Canada in the next year or two. I'll be moving under the Express Entry visa. Researching the best places to live with most opportunity is definitely confusing - I seem to have narrowed it down to BC, NS, Alberta, or Ontario. But something Google and the various provincial websites cannot tell me is what is it REALLY like to live in those provinces? It looks like there's plenty of jobs, and I've gotten some advice from a friend of mine that lives in BC, but I'd like to hear opinions from nurses currently working in those provinces (lifestyle, cost of living, weather, safety, etc). Cheers!
  2. Rnmone, please send me a PM and i'd be glad to help you out! It's a long process, but it's definitely doable!
  3. I am a student in Texas and was looking into doing a CCRN certification so that I could work in either PICU or NICU. What does the board in Texas require so that you're eligible to take the test? I've gone to a few different sites and they all seem to say different things, so I figured it'd be better to ask RNs that have had experience with this! Mahalo!
  4. So I've recently been looking into getting an MS with an emphasis in Midwifery or Women's Health. And of course they require a master's level pharmacology course. Naturally, I freaked out a little. In nursing school, I made a high "C" (77 or 78 I believe) in Pharmacotherapeutics. Now, i'm sure you can understand why I'm a little worried, as that grade isn't really what I was wanting. How awful is Graduate pharm? Any tips or words of encouragement?
  5. Ok, thanks. But the Board in Texas won't revoke my license just because I took a year off? And it's a mandatory year off that I'll have to take due to personal reasons (I don't really have a say in this).
  6. So this might be a stupid question, but... Upon my graduation in Dec 2012 and my passing of the NCLEX, do I have to start working as an RN before a certain time frame (i.e. 1 year, 2 years) in order to keep my license? Or could I graduate, get my license, then take a couple years off (not working as a nurse)? Thanks!
  7. What hospitals and agencies would sponsor a newly graduated nurse (no work experience aside from clinicals) from the US? I was hoping to find a sponsor in 2012 and apply for a Business Long Stay Visa. Thanks!
  8. Yes I was looking to stay there permanently. Do you guys have any recommendations on who I use as far as agencies? I would probably first come on a working holiday visa (to get my year of experience), then transition to a skilled migrant visa.
  9. I will be graduating with my BSN in December of 2012. I was wondering what all I needed to do to transfer my license from the US to Australia. I am planning to start the process as soon as I sit for the NCLEX and am granted a license. Also, what is the recommended visa for my situation? Does Australia require me to work for a certain period before transferring, or could I apply immediately?
