  1. Hello all, I need some guidance. I am currently out of my job on short term disability. My physician supports that I do not return to this job. I do have a new, more manageable job for my health condition lined up to begin in a few weeks. Technically I have to give my 2 weeks notice asap - but I am concerned that if I do, I may be terminated on the day I submit my resignation (rather than the date I state in my letter). I cannot have this happen because of financial obligations, I need to be considered an employee up until the date in my resignation letter (the 2 weeks). However, if I quit on the date I plan not to return (ie without 2 weeks notice), then I will be put on the "do no rehire" list, which will be bad for future job reasons. I have truly been a wonderful employee for this hospital up until the past 4 weeks when a series of very unfortunate and terrible things have happened. I work in a union hospital if that makes any difference. I am very worried and concerned at this time, so any advice (and soon) will be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi NurseSarahJP, I am just curious what has happened. I am currently out of my job on STD, however, I do not want to return after Feb 26th (as I have a new job lined up that physician has said is a good idea and better for me at this time). Technically I have to give my 2 weeks notice today, but I am stressed that they will then terminate me as of today and I cannot have that happen. Trying to find guidance on this but it has been difficult. I am wondering if the hospital can legally terminate me when I give two weeks notice while currently out on STD. I know I have the option of not giving 2 weeks notice and just quitting on the 26th - but then I get put on the "will not rehire" which could be bad in the future. I have been a great employee for this hospital up until now when I had to go out on STD, under some very unfortunate and terrible series of events.
  3. I received the scholarship as well! I am very excited! We should definitely start a fb page....
  4. I live in Arlington, VA. Specifically a little area called Ballston. Its a 5-10 minute metro ride to the Rosslyn station (where the Georgetown shuttle is located). There is also a nice bike trail that runs through part of Arlington right into Georgetown. When the weather is nice, I would bike or run to Georgetown's campus (15-20 minutes max on my old mountain bike and 30 minutes running). I think Arlington is pretty convenient, especially Rosslyn where there are a lot of apartment buildings. You can walk the 20 minutes to campus or take the Georgetown shuttle from Rosslyn. If you want to live slightly further away, but still convenient and good areas to live in in Arlington, you can try "Court House", "Clarendon", "Virginia Square" or "Ballston". They all have metro's there, or you can bike (if you're into biking that is). Unfortunately I have no advice on locations outside of Arlington!
  5. I am debating between the April 30th and May 7th dates. Leaning more towards May 7th. I live in Arlington.
  6. me too!! I am very excited!

  8. nope, i haven't received anything yet... :-/
  9. This has been the SLOWEST week...its only Wednesday. Hopefully they let us know on April 1st...good or bad I feel like I have been waiting forever!
  10. I haven't heard anything back yet. I am extremely antsy and was thinking of posting to this forum earlier today! Less than 2 weeks until the beginning of April at least....
  11. Hi there, I applied for Fall 2011 as well. I received the confirmation email mid-February. I am definitely nervous and antsy for their decisions! I don't think we are being invited to interview this year. I believe the MyCollegei video is serving as our interviews, but I could be mistaken! Good luck!
