Hi skibumnp, Thanks for all your insight so far! I had a question about housing and the school schedule. I live in San Jose and am planning to move to Oakland when school starts, but it seems like some semesters (maybe more towards the end) don't require you to be at school everyday or as often. To save money on rent, I'm wondering if you think it's possible to commute from San Jose during some semesters and how much time is spent in classes/hospital. I guess what I really want to know is, do I need to live near the school during the whole program? Thanks in advance!

Congrats kzimmerman!! I also got accepted!!! yaaaaaay! the person who interviewed me was very friendly and inviting, not threatening at all. We laughed a lot and i felt the interview went really well when i left. i think it's important to really talk about how your past experience in work/volunteer can help you as a CM and what exactly a CM does. just remember to show enthusiasm! you've come so far, good luck stifffunny and carolc!

I got the call around 5 yesterday too! Mine is at 1. I thought I would be nervous, but I also am more excited now than nervous. We're almost there! :)

hi kzimmerman! No, I still haven't heard anything. =/ I'm almost starting to lose hope after going on all these forums. I feel like I'm getting more anxiety reading things from everyone, especially how they overlooked so many things on stiffuny's application. I went to so many schools and hope that doesn't happen to me! Anyways, I did what you did too and emailed nursingcas to see if they forwarded my app and they did respond fast & said that it was sent February 18. I guess all hope is not lost, but this waiting game is painful! I may e-mail the Dir. of Admissions also today just to see where I am in the process.

Hey kzimmerman, Did you get a confirmation about your application being forwarded from NursingCAS in an e-mail or from the messages on the NursingCAS website or through SM? I haven't received anything like that. I wonder if I should call NursingCAS or SM, but I don't want to bug them. Someone in an earlier message said this, so maybe there's still hope: "I submitted mine in mid-December and actually didn't get an e-mail from Samuel Merritt confirming that my application was complete until AFTER I received the call notifying me of my early admit!" Sorry, but what do you mean by out of pocket? The only thing I've heard is for the ABSN program I applied to and it was just that they reviewed my app and its in progress now. The wait is killing me for any program!!

I wanted to apply to both programs, but I wasn't sure if the admissions committee would see that as me not being sure about what I wanted to do. My friend who is in the CM program right now advised me to apply to only one, but I've heard many people apply to both and am kind of wishing I applied to both now just for a better chance of getting in. I just applied through the CM because its less competitive and because I heard you can switch to either program after the first year no matter what program you're in. Anyways, I'm sorry to hear about your brother and hope to hear some good news from you soon!

That's awesome!! My gpa got calculated I believe last Thursday and from what I've been reading on the other FNP posts, the next thing to wait for is notification that SM has received the application and is reviewing it. Have you been reading that too? Please let me know if you hear anything from them and I will do the same! Did you apply to the FNP program too? Which is your first choice? Is no one else applying to the CM program? I hardly see anyone posting about it. If not, I hope there isn't much competition and we both get in! :)

Hey Stifffuny, I had to fill out a whole new application for the ABSN program with the link they gave in the email. I emailed a counselor saying I had recently applied to Samuel Merritt (ELMSN) so my Letters of Rec should be there and they emailed me saying they put my letters in a folder for the admissions counselor to find when they receive my application. I just sent my application packets today for the Summer 2011 and Fall 2011 programs, so hopefully I get into the CM program or one of the ABSN ones! Anyways, good luck to you!

I'm in the same place as you! I'm anxiously checking everyday for when my GPA will be calculated by NursingCAS. I submitted on 2/14 and it was completed 2/28. I also received that email from Samuel Merritt about the extra space they have and ended up quickly applying to the ABSN program just in case. Did you hear anything back after you e-mailed them about your GPA still being calculated?

Has anyone received an interview yet? I am anxiously awaiting each day, but still waiting for my GPA to be calculated on NursingCAS (submitted on 2/14 and completed by them on 2/28). Anyways, I would love to hear about how others are doing during this process!
