  1. I should have been more specific. Mine isn't an online program. Some students have to make up time this next quarter because their placements fell through.
  2. Hi, I'm in a very unfortunate position, as my school has been having difficulty finding clinical placements for its master's students. This is total BS for sure, and I am working to get to the bottom of this. I was able to secure a great placement for fall quarter, but it looks like my school has only placed half the students for our women's health clinical during winter quarter. This is such a long shot, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask if anyone in the Seattle area would like to mentor a terrific and very smart nurse practitioner student for 90 hours during January, Feb, and early March. Did anyone else have this kind of problem in their programs? Is it just my school (Seattle University) that is letting us down? Thanks for listening!
  3. II also have a few questions about repayment programs. I'm curious about how the pay compares in these kinds of programs, since it's incredibly difficult to find info on salaries. If the pay is a little lower, it could be worth it, but if it significantly lower, perhaps not. I'm definitely interested, but a little scared about the options. Also, I know you don't have complete control over where you end up, but do you have much choice in the matter?
  4. How about someone propose a bill that says MDs and DOs have to call themselves physicians? Let's just scrap the term "doctor" because it's really vague. I had a coworker who had a Ph.D in immunology who basically told someone over the phone that she was a doctor and needed her car fixed immediately. I'm pretty sure that was a misrepresentation. Every field has a doctorate and the appropriate title for those individuals is "doctor". As a future nurse practitioner, I'm wondering what the hell I should call myself. Saying "nurse so-and-so" is also vague because there are so many different types of nurses! Sometimes these titles serve to confuse more than they help. Perhaps it is time that nurse practitioners give themselves a title so we can be done with all this crap.
  5. Hi everyone! This is my first posting ever. I'm coming into this discussion late, but would like to share info about pass rates at Seattle University's accelerated MSN program. I am in my first year right now, and will be taking the NCLEX in August. My group is the 4th cohort and so far, the previous 3 groups have all passed the 1st time for a 100% pass rate. However, this makes us nervous. We all wonder "Will I be the person who ruins this trend?". Heheh.
