  1. This is an exciting event in your life. I live in the Atlanta, GA area of the US and also had the opportunity to do this first in 1995. It was a time when the whole hospital was going up on Meditech and at the same time we purchased the Medical Systems Management Software, now called PICIS to use for scheduling and case record entry. Someone came to the facility and gave 3 days of training. Then I was let loose and "built it out" for us. This last year it was required by corporate to change to a different software, actually the Meditech product which is what the hospital uses and there are some advantages but the former product was superior at this point. However my core team and I received our training and went to work and launced the program in August 03. Things are going pretty well but the main issue that we have is user's pulling wrong account numbers or schedulers giving a new account number and admissions not using that one but creating a new one. Of course it creates work for the ones who have to undo and move charges and documentation. How is your project going and what software is it?
  2. Congratulations on the invitation to the Red Hat Society. I wondered how one gets into it. I guess you just need to know someone who recommends you. How many 12 hr shifts do you do a week, two? Are you originally from Michigan? I want to do some travel nursing hopefully next year. Our first grandchild is coming in August so I am wondering how that will affect that desire. Nice talking to you.
  3. Turning 60 next month, an OR nurse graduate of Hurley in Flint, class of 64. Have backed away from the physical work of the OR for now and working with the software program used in documenting and scheduling. Feel great but sure look forward to retirement freedom. Will probably continue to so some work even past 65. Health insurance is such an unknown. We should name this age group, the "Red Hat Nurses"!
