  1. I am hoping to apply for the NCP program as well... just waiting to be accepted into a program right now. I graduated with a BS in Ex. sport science in January and am looking to get into an accelerated BSN program for either this upcoming fall or next spring. My recruiter told me that I cannot start the application process until I have an acceptance letter. Is this the same for your case? How long does the NCP application process take? I have heard mixed stories...
  2. yes, definitely still looking to talk to people and get any/all the information I can!
  3. Hey everyone!! First off, congrats on your acceptance/graduating from this program! I'm so jealous! (haha) I was hoping I could speak to ANY of you who have gone through this program! I just graduated with a BS in Exercise & Sport Science and am working on getting accepted into an accelerated BSN program for the fall! How has your experience been so far?! I am SO anxious to join the Navy and have been trying to be patient but know it is just the beginning! How hard was it to be accepted into the NCP?? Any advice on what I should be doing while I wait to hear back?? I have spoken to my recruiter and he said the first step is to send him my acceptance letters to nursing school.. however I hear that the process of being accepted into the program is pretty lengthy?...So how does this all work out? Also, did you find the bonus/monthly stipend to help with the cost of tuition?? ANY information would be great! Thank you so much and good luck with everything!! -victoria
  4. I am definitely prepared for all that comes with the job... I have been looking into this for a few years now.. weighing out every option and now, I am more excited than anything to get the ball rolling. May sound corny... but I want to be a part of something bigger.. I want to travel and put myself to use in places other than "home." I am pretty confident when it comes to the physical fitness aspect... studied exercise and sport science and played sports in college, so working out is definitely part of my everyday routine. I am healthy and have a clean record so that is definitely a plus. How long does the process take? I am currently applying to all of my nursing programs now.. most are about 12-15 months long. Have you been deployed? What was officer development school like? Thanks so much for taking the time to respond!
  5. Thank you guys so much for getting back to me with all that information! Johanna767- what route did you go for nursing?? Also, how has your experience been?? Hope you don't mind me asking.. Just haven't really had the opportunity to speak with many nurses directly and would love to get all the information that I can. Because I already have a bachelors, I cannot do ROTC.. So at this point it's looking like the nurse candidate program will be my best bet.. I hear its very competitive though..I currently have a 3.0 GPA... But am taking 2 prereq classes right now that will hopefully boost it up a bit. Anyways, Thank you again for writing back!!
  6. Hi everyone! So my last post I had asked some questions about joining the Navy as a Nurse. However, I have recently come across the Hospital Corpsman position and I was wondering if there was anyone out there that may have STARTED out as a corpsman and then later went on to get their BSN?? Is it possible? What is the process like? Pros and Cons of joining as corpsman and then becoming an RN? Any information would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks so much :)
  7. Oops.. I'm sorry. you're right!! I stand corrected! Thank you to everyone that read this... please keep any advice coming on what you believe to be my best route to take!! Thank you :)
  8. Hi everyone!! I am graduating in January 2011 with a bachelors of science in exercise & sport science. However, I am looking to pursue a second bachelors degree in nursing and REALLY want to join the Navy. Has been a dream of mine for years just never knew what career path I wanted to choose. I have been told about the Nurse Candidate Program by a recruiter but was wondering if I would be able to join an NROTC program while pursuing a second bachelors degree...these programs typically are accelerated (max 2 years). I'm just looking for information beyond the recruiters.. would love to hear from people who have either gone through/going through a similar situation. I guess I am just eager to get the ball rolling so ANY advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and hope everyone had a nice holiday!! :) -T
