MRIs & Computer charing...HELP?!?
:typing Hey everyone, thanks for your many replies! Here is more on the situation: 1. Vitals have to be recorded every 5 minutes. 2. Some of these procedures last over 2 hours. 3. I understand the concept that they could use paper and transfer them to the computer later, but that takes too much time. Time that the hospital could be making more money doing more MRIs....and you all know it is all about the money. 4. Lastly, because we are on a computer system, we get docked by JCHAO auditors because our documentation is not all on the computer so we are trying to be more compliant and I was just looking for advice from anyone who's had similiar issues. But, maybe we are the only ones having this problem. Hope this helps paint a clearer picture.

MRIs & Computer charing...HELP?!?
Hello, I am a Registered Nurse at a Level One Trauma Center...We have moved to computerized charting and this is causing some major issues with nurses being unable to document while being in the room with the MRI patients. This is especially so in the Pediatric population where the children are usually very sick and have to be monitored continuously by nurse right by the machine. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this issue and what solution your institution came up with. Thanks so much for any help anyone can provide.

Anyone in/around New Bern?
hey... i figure you must be grad. in dec from craven community college, is that right? i just graduated from craven in may. taking boards july 1st...i'm going to work at pitt hospital in greenville simply because i did not like my rotations at craven regional and i did not like the mentality of administration. during our "recruitment" dinner they said 'we are not in the daycare business nor will we ever be' in response to a question from one of my classmates about having on-site daycare. i get the feeling from the admin. that they are concerned more with themselves than the nurses and that sentiment is reflected in the sour attitudes of the majority of the nurses i encountered at craven hospital. that's my two cents...

Are you in Nursing for the Caring or the Cash?? Be Honest
i just graduated in may and take my nclex-rn on the first...and i have to say that i didn't know how much rns really got paid until i actually got into school. i went into nursing simply because i love people, i love making a difference, and i was laid off from my management position of 4 years and wanted something that would give me lots of stability. i once said in clinicals at the hospital that even if i got paid $5.00 an hour i would still be a nurse and i got the evil eye and lots of evil words from the nurses around me who said i was the problem with nursing today...anyway...my point was i enjoy nursing for what it means to me, a chance to make a difference in this cruel, cruel world...

student in need of advice
Hey there.... I feel for you and the tough time you are having getting into school. While it may be frustrating for you, just know that everything happens for a reason. May seem silly but...if you want to be a nurse then go for it with everything that you have because there are so many needs out there and to see a person so dedicated is a wonderful thing to see... I'm including a few links that may help with financial aid. Also, have you looked into the local hospitals in the area? Many hospitals will pay for your schooling (usually two years) if you agree to work for them for a time after you graduate. It might help! Look into it... http://www.fastweb.com http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ http://www.discovernursing.com/scholarship_search.asp http://www.campusrn.com/scholarships/scholarship_list.asp?browse=T The help is out there...you just have to find it... Hope this helps...
