LSU BSN
Hahahhaha. Well, I had it today. Ummm, everything was fine until I passed out in the middle of a procedure. No worries though, I'm not pregnant, I ate a poptart and drank some juice and was fine after. But still, I've blacked out 3x this week--I just finished undergrad at LA Tech University this week, and it was the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life--so maybe all that extreme stress is the culprit of that. I still don't get it though--I've dental assisted before, and the past 2 years I've worked in an ER--nothing makes me queasy! I better stop all this fainting before nursing school! They're hoping to be able to hire me for just the summer--they seemed really nice and laid back about everything. 2BLSUNurse--I'd love to carpool, study, and make friends over here because the only people I know here are my boyfriend and his family--and I can't hang out with them 24/7!

Charity SON Spring 2012
Oh yessssssss, I've definitely felt the effects of the expensiveness in the Mandeville/Covington area, but hey--that's why I am going into nurse anesthesia so I can afford to live there--lol just kidding. Thanks for the insight. I've been coming down about a year now consistently because of my boyfriend, and everytime I'm down I get ridiculed for my accent. My accent is so bad I get mocked up here! I've considered speech therapy. I have tried to not let it get to me so much--but when people have been mocking you since the first day of highschool 9 yrs ago about the way you talk..it's hard to shake off. I just don't want the culture to eat me alive. Okay, now I'm just whining :) Good luck with Charity you guys!

Charity SON Spring 2012
This is totally off the subject of Charity Nursing--I am moving to Covington next week and have a working interview with BlueBonnet Dental in Mandeville. Anybody know if they're good people to work with? I know for a fact the BR branch has a high turn over rate. I'm just reallllllly nervous about the transition because I'm from North Louisiana and am not used to the culture. I also have a twangy country accent but I tend to not let that get in the way lololol but still! I just want to succeed down here :) Any input is greatly appreciated about the Northshore.

Charity vs LSUHC
I applied to each, was scared to death I wouldn't get in because of my terrible GPA affiliated with my BS in Biology, and was clueless as to which one I should hope to get into. I got called for an interview at LSUHSC and got really good vibes from the place and people. I hand-delivered my application to Charity and got bad vibes--everyone was really rude. Turns out, I was accepted into both programs. I have decided to run with LSUHSC because I want to pursue a career in nurse anesthesia afterwards, and I want to get the BSN done and over with! I'm definitely going to have to put in some time working in an ICU after graduation, and I really don't want to be bogged down with RN-BSN bridge work. HOWEVER, if for some reason I dislike LSU and things don't work out the way I want them to, I have saved my seat at Charity for Spring 2012 clinicals. I'd be stupid not to, but then again, I'm hoping for the best with LSU. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you have to re-take Physiology--and not everybody can be exempted from Anatomy either from what I heard! I've taken both already and am prepared to re-take Physiology. It's supposed be the worst class out of the entire curriculum. I've heard nothing but horror stories about it. It'll suck if I have to retake the Anatomy too, but I certainly hope I don't have to.

I don't know about what textbooks we need, but I'm sure we'll find out all that in orientation in july! I'll be there, too! You may be one of those people who wants to get ahead by reading the books...but I've been told time and time again..ENJOY YOUR SUMMER! Lol. As far as LSU renting books, I have no clue, but the past 3 years I have been renting my ridiculously expensive biology books from chegg.com. Check it out. See you in July!

Applied For LSU SON and Charity
Update just for the heck of it: I got into BOTH programs!!!!! All this worrying for the past 8+ months for nothing! Thanks for the encouragement everybody!

Allie, if for some reason u don't get in, try for an ASN unless you want to advance after graduation to advanced nursing. The only reason I'm getting another bachelor's degree is bc I'm interested in nurse anesthesia. There's Charity, BRCC, and Baton Rouge General. There's Southeastern, ULL, William Carey, Our Lady of the Holy Cross, and this coming up spring Our Lady of the Lake will be doing away w/ the ASN and just doing the BSN (somebody correct me if I am wrong about the spring, it maybe fall). Girl, if your overall GPA is 3.8, maybe yÓu should get a BS in pre med like I did and try for medical school! I don't know if you're interested in that, but if you could keep up the high GPA, it'd be worth a try.

I rewarded myself Thursday night by taking a break from my chaotic schedule, so I just filled it all out lol. It takes no time at all...just signatures and contact info for the most part. Ecology is ruining my life right now...all I need is a C and I'll graduate May 21!!! It's ridiculously difficult.

The folks who answer the phone up there are something else. I called last wednesday to verify if they had sent my letter to the correct address but wouldn't release that info bc they couldn't verifymy identity over the phone....sigh....lol.

LSU BSN
Yep, I mailed it off the day I got my letter last Thursday! I've filled out every one of the forms you have to print from the lsuhsc website, with the exception of having a physical done. I need to wait off a month or so b4 I have a physical. I even had my TB skin test done at my last day of work this weekend! Lol. I'm excited.

tiger2be, if you're that concerned w/ making sure the school gets your acceptance letter/check, email the lady who's number and name are listed on your acceptance letter: (moderator edit of initials - please do not post names and/or initials that could identify anyone in your program per tos) i emailed her sun night and promptly got answers to my questions this morning; she is the enrollment coordinator! i also emailed student health services sunday night about blood titers that i had drawn at the hospital i work at 2 years ago when i got hired. they also replied to me this morning. and fyi guys, if you do have blood titers from 2 years ago (the lab results) that will be sufficient. they are not cheap to have run! you have to have titer proof of varicella zoster! but yeah, tiger2be, just look at your acceptance letter and her name, number, and email address are listed. she'll answer any question u may have!

I got in with a 3.0. I busted my a** on all the other portions of the admissions though! I wrote a really good goal paper and practiced questions for the interview. I think my biology degree helped my chances, too. Work experience in the ER probably didn't hurt my chances either. I'm living proof that GPA will only get you so far. Allie, don't give up. They told us 7-10 days....I read on the forum from a couple of years back that didn't get their acceptance until like 3 weeks after they'd been mailed out. Also, maybe they did mail them out alphabetically. My last name begins w/ an "A". Pleaseeeee don't give up!

Charity SON Spring 2012
Yeah, i applied for Charity Spring '12 admission and to LSUHSC Fall 2011....people down south in the NOLA and BR area are receiving acceptance letters for LSU today. I live 6 hrs north and I'm a nervous wreck because I had NO MAIL TODAY! So, maybe I'll hear tomorrow! The only thing about the HESI is that is has more components--like Chemistry, A & P, quantitative reasoning, etc...I scored higher on it than I did the TEAS. Charity isn't going to include 10 points in my profile score because they're picking applicants this month, and I don't graduate college until May . So, I realllllly hope I hear back from LSU! GOOD LUCK!

Charity SON Spring 2012
I've heard hearsay about....but I'll definitely say the HESI A2 was easier than the TEAS! just my personal opinion!
