  1. I am starting nursing school next week and just got my stethoscope (super excited!!!). I was just curious how everyone else gets theirs to/from school and clinical? I saw in other threads that some people use tube socks, but I was hoping to keep my stethoscope, bandage scissors, safety goggles, etc. in one place so I can just "grab and go." Just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations or alternate suggestions? Thanks!
  2. Thank you so much! I am in one of the facebook groups, and there are some good tips on there, but not too much about supplies, so your info is good to hear.
  3. I was not planning on buying anything yet, I was just curious about how much I should expect to be buying, and what current students recommend. The next few months are going to fly by, so enjoying my free time now is a great suggestion! Thanks hiddencat!
  4. I will be attending Drexel's ACE program for fall 2011. I haven't heard anything about orientation yet, but I am really excited to get started. I am curious to hear from people who have graduated or are currently in the program about what sort of supplies we need? I read somewhere that we need yellow and blue scrubs for clinical, and I assume we will need other typical nursing school supplies like a stethoscope. Are there any supplies that the school suggests that you do not recommend purchasing? Are there any supplies that you find to be really important and would be worth spending a little more money to get better quality? Also, for textbooks, at the information session we were told that textbooks were going to be on an ipod that is included our tuition. I was curious if the textbooks are already downloaded for us or do we need to pay to download the textbooks onto the ipod? They mentioned the software being loaded on the ipod but I was not sure if this meant that the textbooks were already on there or if it was just software to help us download the books. Thanks so much for any help!
  5. Congratulations to everyone! I just paid my deposit a few days ago. Does anyone who has paid already know what comes next? I looked at the transfer checklist, and after I paid it said there would be a confirmation kit mailed. I was just curious if anyone had gotten it yet?
  6. I am in the process of applying for several accelerated/second degree programs, none of which offer scholarships from the schools. I have been looking for outside scholarships, but am having trouble. Most seem to be for four year programs, or people who are 30+ yrs old. Does anyone know of any scholarships for people looking to earn a second degree who are under 25? As of right now I will probably be paying for school mostly with loans. Are there any loan forgiveness programs available? I thought I might have found a federal loan forgiveness program, but the information was from a few years ago, so I am not sure if it is still around. Is anyone else having this problem or am I just looking in all the wrong spots?
  7. Thank you for your help! A couple other questions... With the class sizes being smaller, do you feel like it is easier to get individual attention when you need it? I was also looking at the Stradford campus, and the nursing lab they showed us seemed like it had less equipment than the one at Drexel, do you feel like you still have the practice necessary for clinicals? I really liked the things you pointed out about UMDNJ, the cost was a big plus. The only thing I did not like was that they do not have a fall program, so I would have to wait until Jan 2012 because I will not be done my pre-reqs overlap with the start of the Summer 2011 program. Thanks again!
  8. I am trying to decide between several accelerated BSN programs: Drexel's ACE program, Jefferson's FACT program, and UMDNJ accelerated bachelors. I have done a lot of research on them, so I know about the different program lengths and costs for all three, and also about the masters credits for Jefferson. I have asked around and gotten the generic "Oh, they are great programs." I was wondering if anyone had any more specific feedback about these three programs...especially, if you are in or have graduated from one. I would welcome both pro and cons. I would love to hear the great things, but also I would like to know what is frustrating about them to get a well rounded perspective. I have found a lot posts about how stressful Drexel's ACE program is, but have not been able to find much about UMDNJ or Jefferson. Maybe I am just not looking in the right spots. I posted this in the NJ schools section, but thought I would post here as well. Thank you so much for any feedback you have!
