  1. Whoa, I in no way meant to trivialize anything. My point was that I wasn't drug dealing. It just got portrayed that way and if I would have had a decent lawyer it would have been dropped. I freely admit that I was doing drugs at the time. Since then I've been to rehab and have been cleared by a chemical dependency evaluator. That was nearly 12 years ago. So if you don't have any information on the question I asked then stay off the post.
  2. Has anyone been keeping up with the rule 3331? Or is anyone familiar with it? It is keeping me from being able to get licensed in Louisiana. Just a little background; I was arrested and convicted over 11 years ago of possession with intent to distribute meth (mind you I had a very miniscule amount and it was a stupid charge because I had an empty bag along with what I had) due to not being able to afford a lawyer I had a court appointed one. The charge should have been dropped or reduced but it wasn't. Anyway, since then I've graduated nursing school and been working in Texas. I completed a year's worth of stipulations for Texas which included random drug tests and quarterly evaluations. From what I understand from the LSBN newsletters is that they are changing something about the rule 3331, but it doesn't specify what or when. I'm just hoping it will work out in my favor so I can work in Louisiana.
  3. We are using the Nursing Diagnosis Handbook by Ackley and it does have interventions and rationales in it.
  4. I have been racking my brain and I can not come up with a psychosocial nursing diagnosis for my care plan. My patient is in the beginning stages of vascular dementia. She has pretty significant short term memory loss. Her chart says that she has bouts of depression, but I have not been around her during those times. She always seems happy and accepts her condition. One of my instructors suggested interrupted family process because her family does not come to see her hardly anymore and it bothers her. I don't know how to tie that all in with the NANDA book because it gives me interventions for the family and not the patient. I have never even met her family. I'm just lost. She has a history of insomnia, depression, and anxiety but since I have been at the nursing home she has not shown any signs of these disorders to my knowledge.
  5. Ok just an update... I took my evaluation which I ended up having to pay 750 to the Dr. I received my letter from him about a week ago saying that he found no cause for me to have any stipulations on my license and he believed I could be a nurse without any impairments. How long will it take the nursing board now? I got accepted into clinicals and I have to have all my requirements met by May 31.
  6. Awesome. I've been super nervous about mine. Every where I call they say it is an all day thing. I'm ready to get it over with. Thanks again.
  7. I'm going to call around and see what I can find out. I found the one that charges 800 but he was in Richardson, TX. Thanks for the input. How was your outcome? What was evaluation like?
  8. Nope I called one in Houston and one in Waco and they were both 1500. Well one was 1450. Did you have insurance??
  9. Omg where was it 100? I haven't done it yet and I really could save the money. I'm so poor.
  10. I am being ordered by the Texas Board of Nursing to undergo a chemical dependency evaluation after submitting a declaratory order packet. I called (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME: PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF INDIVIDUALS ON THE BOARDS PER TERMS OF SERVICE) and his secretary assured me that he was not biased and rarely went against the patient to receive their license. I'm still extremely nervous because this evaluation will determine if I can even get into clinicals and I have been working my butt off. My offense was 6 years ago. I haven't used since, but I'm scared they will be looking for any fault they can find. I have saved the 1500 for the evaluation and I can't afford an attorney because I'm a single mom and student. Can anyone please give me a clue to what my chances may be!!!
  11. I need help as well. I will be ordered to take a chemical dependency evaluation over the next month and I'm extremely nervous. I was arrested 6 years ago involving a felony charge for meth. I have not used it since. I'm scared there will be a polygraph test and I will get nervous or say the wrong thing and fail it. It is also going to cost me 1500 if I use one of the pre-approved list. I live in Louisiana and I wonder if they will let me find one closer to home. I'm pretty sure I can't afford an attorney after having to come up with the 1500 for the evaluation.
  12. Thanks for your response. I'm just nervous because it was a felony drug charge. I just got mixed in with the wrong crowd in college and made a bad choice. I got charged with intent to distribute but I only had a small amount and I live in a crooked little town. I don't want to live with that mistake the rest of my life. I'm going to send in the 150.00 and pray that I get in. Thanks again.
  13. I have a question...I submitted my declaratory packet about a month and a half ago. I called to BON today and they said a letter has been mailed saying that it had been sent to the enforcement department for review and I would have to pay the $150.00 fee. I have a felony charge of possession with intent to distribute meth from four years ago. It was the only time I have ever been in trouble and I went to jail for 6 months. I was released from probation early and was granted a first offenders pardon. Can anyone tell me if they know anything about what my chances are of getting approved? I'm doing all this just so I can apply for clinicals in the Spring.
