Remington College of Nursing - Orlando
I have not found out very much information, but what I have found does not look good. The community college where I live says that you can practice anywhere with either a Ca or NY license but it is very difficult or impossible to transfer it locally. I talked to someone who did manage to transfer and he said it took more than 6 months to get approved. I was unable to talk to anybody about whether or not an advance practice degree makes you eligible to move easier than with a general BSN. As for graduate school, you can go to a non-public university, or one that accepts national accreditation and not just regional. It will limit your choices but will not make things impossible. I think they had the video because a group of students sued the school because they were not able to take the NCLEX because they did not do well enough on the HESI to graduate. I heard this second hand so some facts may a little off.

Oh no. I need to find out about that tomorrow then since I also plan on going back to california eventually, although it may be after my masters. I can see how some things might make it difficult but not needing the science classes to have labs. I looked at and got accepted into U of A and they did not require any labs even for microbiology (with remington does require) and they can get licensed in california... I turned it down because i didnt want to take out 80k in loans for a MSN that isnt specific to anything. I am going to try to find out more about that tomorrow...

I am moving there from California :) About accreditation, I talked to Remington and they are pursuing getting regional accreditation, they also said that they are planning to start a masters program although I don't know what type of program it will be. I think if they get regional accreditation it will not matter if it happened before or after we have graduated.

They decided the end of last week and I got my letter on Monday.

Everything I heard from them was due to me contacting them, I probably sent 10 emails during the application process, the last of which was to confirm they received everything they needed. So if you haven't heard from them don't take it to mean anything. Also, when I talked to them they said that competitive was around a 3.2 with an 80 or so TEAS. I had a GPA and TEAS score above this mark, but I don't want to put it all down on here. They do seem to look at the applicant overall, so if one of these wasn't very good they might still accept you.

My interview went ok, I had it at 12 after working 930pm until 6am and then not sleeping, but I explained it and she was very nice about it. When I interviewed she told me the deadline had been extended but those who had complete applications would have their applications reviewed by the weekend and I got my letter on monday. I suggest just asking them when the committee is meeting, you should receive the decision a couple days after that.

Nfpristera I contacted them to get my interview set up. I don't think when you find out if you got accepted has anything to do with the interview, it just has to be done before they meet to decide who they are going to accept.

I believe that if a program is nationally accredited then any other nationally accredited school will accept the credits. Both Reminton and UCF are CCNE accredited so I don't understand why they would not take the credits. Even if a few schools will not take the credits there are always others that will, if there are none in your area and you cannot move there are online MSN programs. I think you can have the same problems with a regionally accredited school if you plan on moving to another state or even attempt to go to a nationally accredited MSN program. Also, this is a second degree program, I have found some MSN programs that only require a science bachelors and an RN for admittance.

I noticed that they seem to take a lot into consideration when reviewing an applicant. I think how thorough schools are with their admissions tells a lot about how much they care about the program and applicants. The good news with that is even if you don't get in this time around and retake the TEAS its only 6 months until the next class starts.

You know the untouched left over food items on pt trays>
Hospitals (in my state at least) cant even donate the untouched/unplated leftovers from the cafeteria because its to much of a liability. I know grocery stores can safely donate foods on/just passed their "best by" dates without being liable if someone gets sick, I wish more places could do something like that.

Even if you were able to safely disinfect everything just in case someone had something contagious I don't think you could send it back to another patients room. Even if you could given that you would have to separate it from the tray, disinfect it, and then redistribute whatever the item it is would slow down a person in the kitchen, cafeteria, or wherever more than you would think. In the long run it would likely lead to more hours needed or more people working a shift. I doubt you would make up for that money in savings even if it went to patients, and you definitely wouldn't if it went somewhere else.

New entry-level Masters program at U of A!!
did you happen to ask when they would start contacting the alternates? I assume they knew the initial number of acceptances/declines of admission on friday, more people could drop closer to the deadline but I'm sure everyone who was admitted didn't accept.

New entry-level Masters program at U of A!!
I just got an email that I was put on the wait list. Something happened right before the interview which impacted my performance and I wonder I would have gotten in if it hadn't happened. I guess now I just have to hope people decline their offer of admission.

CRNA with Masters
Hi, I'm planing on becoming a CRNA eventually but right now I am applying to schools to get either an accelerated BSN or MSN. If I get a MSN do I need to get another masters in anesthesia or are there other programs or options if you have a masters? I tried to find the answer to this in another thread but I couldn't find anything. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Kelli
