  1. Good, I won't be the only one there.... Sweetjen2006, just be patient. You'll get in! Make sure to re-apply. I applied in July for the first time. I had just been put on the waiting list. I didn't get in. But I applied again in November and I got in:) I work at Banner Estrella. This next year will be my 5th.
  2. I'll just take what they give me... I'm sure that if all of us have a blue badge we should be fine. I don't know where were supposed to meet but I'm sure we'll probably be directed on where to go as soon as we walk in.
  3. I'll be there at 8:30. If they don't do a tour, I'll go get coffee:) I think they had said that our badges needed to be a maroon color. I remember us discussing this... Did u ever follow up with your instructor?
  4. Me too!!!!! I'm going to MCC to get my ID as soon as I get out of work today. Did anyone ever figure out what color our ID is supposed to be? I know someone was told that it was different from what our email had said.. As far as a clip, I'll probably be putting it on the same clip that I use for work. I work at three different hospitals so I carry all my IDs on me at all times so I don't forget them:)
  5. Just wanted to remind everyone to bring their student ID to orientation on Thur!!! I almost forgot.. I'll be going to get mine tomorrow. I went to the math review course today and yesterday. I'm glad I took it. We went over several things that we will be using through the semester.. conversions and stuff like that. I got to meet someone with the same classes as me. The instructor was pretty good. Now I'm just excited for Thur!!! I was told by a couple of people that we MIGHT be asked to take a drug test during the first 48 hours after orientation. Not that we have anything to worry about, but one of the girls did remind me of something important. Consuming poppy seeds 48 hours before drug testing could result in a false positive result for opiates. So NO poppy seeds people!! It was kind of funny because coincidently, as she was telling me.. I was holding an everything bagel with a bunch of poppy seeds!!! I had already taken a few bites but it should be fine. I know that there are only certain poppy seeds that give a false positive test but the trick is knowing the difference.
  6. Haha.. You really should!!
  7. Youre welcome!!! Ill definetly let u guys know... We'll have to find a way to meet on Orientation. I did the payment plan.. They require 20 percent down and they do the rest in 4 payments.
  8. Just wanted to remind everyone that tuition is due today !!!!!
  9. Or a dolly... haha. I'm not sure but I would imagine there will be days that we will be carrying more than other. They'll probably prepare us with what we need to bring. I'll probably just keep them in my trunk. I'm sooo ready to start. I'm still waiting on the last of my books. All I need now is to download the pda books. As far as I know my classes still start on the 18th. My instructor sent me a list of chapters to read ahead of time so I'm starting on that now.. I'm taking the math review course next Mon and Tue. Did anyone else sign up?
  10. Seriously!! I wish... I'm not very savy at those things.
  11. too bad there isn't a way to download it onto different devices.. we could've found a way to split the cost...
  12. are the professor's initials L.A.?
  13. I didn't get it... did you get it to your banner or personal email?
  14. I thought classes start on the 18?
  15. well I'm going to try it.. I got drug calculations for $4 on amazon. Previous edition but it'll be worth a try.
  16. Is anyone buying any previous editions of books?? I'm finding some of them for next to nothing and I'm really tempted....
  17. It will help with small things of course but it isn't necessary.. I am actually an interpreter. I work at a couple of hospitals around the valley. The policies are getting stricter to where even if you have spanish skills, you need to be properly accessed before using them. Most staff uses their limited Spanish for the small things but you will always have an interpreter available to you. The law requires it, whether it be in person or over the phone. In the end, it's really for everyones safety. You need to be able to communicate properly in order to give your patients the best care. I really don't know if I would go on to spend money or time on something like that. You're probably better off working some extra hours to save up for when you get in. I too finished all my pre & co reqs ahead of time. I start block one in January, it's really expensive!!
  18. Me too... I think I have all my shots. I wasn't missing anything that was requested on the form. Did you get any kind of notification requesting anything that hadn't been completed?
  19. Yeah I pretty much felt ripped off.. it would have been great if they would have simply given us a list of the supplies we needed. I would've saved a ton!
  20. azerogurly, congrats!!! asacco, you're still part of our class:) i turned in my health safety form with my application.. she looked it over and didn't say anything. as far as i know everything was up to date.. were you notified of immunizations that you were missing? i'm ordering the last of my books now. its getting soooooo expensive:( i talked to a friend of mine who recently graduated and she told me that we will be needing a stethescope before clinicals. also that it would be a good idea to buy some nursing shears. i ordered my steth on amazon the other day. i was going to wait until they said something but i figured we will need it and i don't want to wait and have to buy it full price.
  21. I just ordered a littman from amazon for $41!!! You can sign up for prime shipping, I signed up for the free trial. It'll get u free 2 day shipping if u sign up as a student. I even used it for a few books that I ordered...
  22. Thank you! I hope so... I haven't bought the pda books. I just ordered a bunch of books on Amazon. I'm holding off on some of the more expensive ones, hoping I can find better deals. I haven't bought the pda books yet. They're expensive! I'll probably order those pretty soon. Next on my list is a stethescope.
  23. Me too! It's coming up really fast.. I'm still on edge about my job situation. I know that I'm probably taking on too much but I'm really trying to see what I can do. I have two jobs and I really don't want to let go of either of them. I've given up one of my shifts from my fulltime job leaving me working Tue and Wed from 7p-12a. They are super easy shifts, never too busy and if I don't get called, I get to sit in my office in front of a computer... so I'm thinking I can use it as study/homework time. Then I would just have Fri 7a-5:30p... this shift is usually busier but same thing.. If I'm not busy I'm allowed to do homework. Then my second job is PRN. I'll basically take on whatever shifts I am available for. They aren't very strict, I can say no if I'm not available.. If worst comes to worst, I'll have to leave my prn job. Though I really don't want to.. we'll see. Everything seems to be pretty much in order. I've paid and registered for the math review course. I also paid a portion of the tuition for the program. I think I'm just going to do the payment plan. I'm going to pay off as much as I can before the semester starts then I'll pay the rest in payments. All that's really left for me to buy are books!
  24. Yes but it also says that we would be asked to get one and to not do so until then.
