ANyone have FB on Bradley Online FNP program? I see a lot of people asking and being accepted and then I never see anything after that! Haha is the FNP program that all encompassing...? I am starting in the Jan 2017 FNP certificate program (I have my MSN). I also see remarks about not being accredited, but I see them listed as of Oct 2015 being accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Appreciate any and all FB! Thanks

They have a great van pool - it is a very organized ride share where UCLA supplies the van and you or someone near you is the designated driver and you keep the van at your home. I know some companies give monetary incentive to van pool members and you get free parking and you get a close parking spot! I imagine you will hear about it during orientation, but if not, just ask HR about it. Getting across town is rarely a pleasant experience. Good Luck!

me too.... never live more than 10 miles from where I work! Subletting is a good idea... often if you can find someone to take over the lease an then they may not charge you anything at all. Good luck!

My understanding is that medical benefits begin the first day of the month following your first full month of work. For example, people that started today, 2/7, will work their first full month in March therefore medical benefits will be effective as of April 1.

The traffic situation is very realistic. Google maps shows this from costa mesa: 1. 57 mins 1 hour 30 mins in traffic I-405 S 50.9 mi 2. 1 hour 3 mins 3 hours 10 mins in traffic I-10 E and I-5 S 55.8 mi 3. 1 hour 3 mins 1 hour 50 mins in traffic I-110 S and I-405 S 56.3 mi Maybe if you get a mid-shift, like 12-12:30 or 2-2:30, you might get lucky with about 1 hour and 15 mins, but if you are 7-7:30, it will not be pleasant. An hour is not bad if you are actually driving, but one hour at an average of 30 mph is no fun! On another note, UCLA has excellent carpool possibilities.... Good luck to you...

Dont do it!!! ... no, really, you do not want to do Orange County to UCLA. On a good day it will be 1.5 hours and most days are not good, even weekends are very busy between OC and LA. If you do not mind a 2 hour commute, a rather unfriendly-trafficky kind of commute, then it may not bother you - and if will move in Aug, maybe you are willing...? But it will not be a nice commute. I imagine with the gas you will use up, it will be better to get to at least Torrance, but even better would be Venice/Palms/Mar Vista/Rancho Park/Culver City/. Also, consider the San Fernando Valley areas: Encino/Tarzana/Sherman Oaks/Studio City/Valley Village - the communities near the 101 x 405 fwys. Also, Westwood has some pretty good deals if you dont mind rooming with students. What are some LA areas they have to offer you? Good luck

Check it out - mostly students or young alumni, so not sure if that works for you. http://www.dailybruin.com I imagine that Cedars has a community board, too...? @NurseVN: Yeah, Wilshire is pretty good - if you are coming from the east, Beverly is also a really good street to travel west. Olympic is great both east and west. I used to live in the Silver Lake area when I was a student at UCLA. I took Beverly most of the way and it was pretty good. Google of course shows RealTime traffic and calling CalTrans for traffic and road construction areas is very easy and quick. Hi... Yeah I have the same info as BenGRN. We will get placed with a preceptor and then will follow their schedule. I am not sure at what time that happens in the orientation process. They provided an itinerary of the first 5 days, which had a lot of general orientation classes as well as some nursing-specific orientation classes. I agree about Westsiderentals.com. They are a great resource for finding a solid place. I have had several craigslist scammers with rentals. Craigslist can be good if you check everything out first, talk to the person, meet the person on the property, etc. Also, UCLA's Daily Bruin paper has roommate listings if you want to go that route. http://www.dailybruin.com I live about 7 miles away and it is possible to take 20-25 minutes on a holiday.... maybe when people aren't working or are out of town.... otherwise, I plan for an hour. Even though it sounds like I am fairly close at 7 miles, I am looking to move so that I can close the gap to about 4 miles. It also depends on where you are coming from - my 7 miles is tough because there isn't really a freeway to take from where I live so it is all streets - but the freeways can be worse! Welcome to Los Angeles!

Hi... the schedule is 5 days (M-F) appx 7:30/8am to 4/4:30pm, depends on the day. Seems like general hospital orientation with a mix of new employees, then at certain times the orientation group splits up and licensed employees have additional requirements more specific to hands on patient care and hospital policies. It also looks as though there will be some time orienting us to benefits and enrolling in medical, etc. They provide an orientation guide and the days look full and interesting. I was told to wear comfortable shoes! It's going to be a great week!

Hi - I am starting Feb 7th - So excited about it! The HR day was a positive experience, but it did take some time - I was there for about 3.5 hours. HR was at a good pace and of course I loved the part where I got to sign my contract and get my badge! The new employee health evaluation took some time because of waiting - other employees were there for their own appts, etc... not a big deal and everyone was really nice. Gave me time to read some of the materials from HR. I also went to get my parking pass and that was really quick. Then I did the Quest Diagnostics drug screening. People at Quest were also very nice but they were very busy and the wait was about 50 minutes to be seen. If you can do the drug screening before the HR appt, I imagine 2-3 hours is about right. It was a nice day getting a feel for where everything is located and the parking lots and a good practice run for traffic around the hospital. Congrats to you!

Hi - not sure if this is the right spot to post and ask this question - I searched and this was the closest topic I could find. I am a new grad and was offered a position. I was called by HR to clarify my work dates at previous employment because it is off by one year. The application I filled out shows my work dates for one year longer than the organization has me in their system so it looks like I "fibbed" on my application. I spoke to HR at the previous employer and they can't offer any explanation other than the possibility of moving me around to a different budget they can't track or find (it was research work and you often get moved around to different budgets until the next grant comes in, etc). I am concerned that they will revoke my job offer because of the discrepancy! It was 12 years ago, but I sent an email to my supervisor at the time in hopes they will remember and verify my work dates. What are my other options? I don't have any tax or W-2 forms from that long ago.... I feel like I need to change my resume to fit what the organization has just so it matches, but I really did work one year longer than they have in their system - this is the second potential employer who asked me about the discrepancy!!! monkeysarecute: I would call Liza about the quest diagnostic paperwork. When I called her today, I was checking on why I didnt receive it and she said it was because I would be there on friday (in 2 days) and there wasnt enough time before Friday for me to do the screen. I dunno about those coming to do paperwork next week...? Sorry... give her a call - better to be safe then to miss the timing.... Does anyone know what to expect for their physical? I wasn't asked to bring vaccine info, maybe they draw titers instead? Is it a true physical, like they ask us to run on a treadmill carrying 25 Lbs or something? Or is it a questionnaire? I was just thinking what could possibly take 3-4-5 hours? Anyway, I am sure it will be interesting....

I asked HR about parking (day of interview) and she said it was 30.00/month. Also, I talk to Liza today and was told that if you are going in for new-hire paperwork and physical this week, you do the drug screening with them since they don't have time to wait for the outside source. During my interview, I mentioned casually that I preferred nights, but did anyone actually get asked about it or fill out a form for shift preference?

I didn't have any connections to cedars... but I did have 2 other interviews behind me! ha ha, so I felt a lot more practiced and relaxed than my first interview. Hang in there everyone - 90 new hires is awesome and many many more calls are going to go out...!

I was given the same info and sent an email for confirmation. I was not asked to bring any transcripts, but will bring an official copy just in case! I was also told to expect a package in the mail for the drug screening forms. Did anyone get the forms in the mail yet? I am coming on Friday to do the new-hire paperwork and was told expect 3-4 hours....! Did anyone get assigned a unit or shift? ...or do we discuss that with the hiring manager....? I was told at the interview day that someone wil ask our preference so they can try to match us with a preceptor who has a similar shift. Did you all get that same information or something different? I was not given an exact number, but was told at the by the manager that there were about 135 people (seemed like more because there were more than 135 chairs) and that appx 30 will start Feb 29 and another appx 30 will start 2nd week of March. At the HR table, they said last cohort was scheduled to take in 50 people and they took in about 70 people bc they had so many good applicants. The week will go by fast----stay busy----volunteer somewhere----I have made my week full with volunteer work so I can get out of my own thoughts! ....before you know it, the phone will ring or an email will pop up... hang in there!

The email says to choose only ONE area of interest and I have noticed for other New Grad programs if you happen to choose the ONE unit they aren't trying to fill, you're out of luck... it seems so harsh - even if you give a good interview - it seems like you 'lose' before you even get a chance... does that seem accurate to you? Anyway - I'm super nervous- especially about a clinical Q, I feel like I freeze and forget everything! I plan to brush up on my ACLS and PALS, but any advice...? I can get PM but cant yet respond - I think I need a few more posts! haha.... Im getting there.... Thank you for your posts on this - its nice to hear your experience so it wont be a total surprise on that day! Glad your loving there...

I forgot to ad that Westside rentals is a great place to look for places in the area. Craigslist is unfortunately hit n miss.... I have had scammers respond back to me asking me to send money to them in another country, etc, etc... scary... yet some are great and you will see them on Craigslist and Westside Rentals. Still, I prefer to not waste my time with whether it is a legit rental or not....
