Hello, I am a current pre-nursing student at St. Kate's Saint Paul campus. I am really worried about getting into their program, if I can even get in. I am a transfer student, I transferred from MCTC and also took a class at Normandale. I decided that that route was too much for me because I did not get much help at community college, plus all that work just for a AS? But now I feel like I could go back and get into their Nursing program. But I don't want to regret possibly earning a spot in St. Kates Nursing. My gpa is low, pre-req gpa is currently 2.7 and my classes right now I have 2 C+ and one A. I fear that I will not get into St. Kate's Nursing and will have to continue taking classes. I don't want to be in HUGH debt when I'm out. All this is really making me debate on if I want to do nursing because I doubt my abilities. Should I continue at St. Kates even though my grades are only average? Or transfer back to community college and earn a AS then go for a Bachelors? One thing that sways my decision to going back to community college is the $ and I want to get my medical assistant license which would only take me a summer and a year if I get accepted so that I can work as a Medical Assistant instead of a CNA while in nursing school. Honest opinions please!
