  1. Hi Amar and khatt Sorry for the late response. You guys might have already figured this out .Well the licensing process is this...there isn't one!..All you need is a degree or diploma in nursing that is recognized by INC following which you fill out a form and register your name in your respective state nursing councils eg.Punjab nursing council .The problem you guys will face is getting the INC to recognize your Canadian education. To sum it up you need to contact the state nursing council and not INC as they are not involved directly in registration process. Im sure someone in the state council will help you out. So all the best to you both! Nancy
  2. Hi I must say that is an excellent explanations of how thinks work, or rather don't work in India. Anyway@rinks2010 you should seriously reconsider coming to India because of the above said reasons ..in short you will probably never be able to convert your diploma as a nursing diploma is 31/2 years and BSN is 4years .plus you need to get into a good institution and be assosiated with an international level hospital for clinical exposure and mediocre nursing schools are mushrooming up everyday. So unless you are willing to start from scratch,ie right from entrance exams to 4 years of full time study, don't risk it friend :)
  3. I am a Indian nurse. I love allnurses and am glad that you have setup an exclusive forum for us.But sadly all Indian RN want to talk about is immegration . There are millions of us working in India. Let's talk about what's going on in our profession in India. For instance the recent nursing strikes in various places across our country . This is also a good platform for discussing our professional experiences both in India and abroad . An Indian nurse can understand an Indian nurse better. So all those Indian nurses in allnurses, please share ! Looking forward for your posts
  4. Hi Indyan I came across you querie and since its been posted for sometime now,i hope you've got a satisfactory answer. This is what i know In India you are eligible to become a registed nurse on completion of GNM /BSc Nursing course . But this doesn't mean you become an RN/RM by default ...You're only allowed to practice under the regulations of the government .For this you need to register yourself under the respective state Nursing Council ,in your case Nursing Council of Jharkhad. No,there is no registration exam .If you do not possess a state Nursing Council registration ,you are NOT a RN. Working as a nurse without registration is ILLEGAL !!! Registration is an easy procedure. You just need to fill out an application with details of course of study etc.,pay the amount of money required . The council will add your name to their register and send you the Certificate of Registration with registration number . For further details go to the Indian Nursing Council website .
