  1. He's really put me between a rock and a hard place because, so many contracts are verbal agreements. Its his word against mine. I'm fighting this battle by never using him again, luckily the staff at the hospital is really great. I was curious about recruiters who were bullys like that as well!
  2. Just a thought, I suffered an orthopedic injury a month into one of my assignments and was unable to complete it due to the nature of the injury, My company notified the hospital that I wouldn't be returning and I paid absolutely no penalties (except the lost income) my company even took me back after that .
  3. Just throwing this out there, has anyone ever had a contract extended without their knowledge or permission? I had a PerDiem contract extended without my knowledge recently and can't really get out of it without making myself ineligible for rehire at the hospital. I know it sounds crazy, but I had called my recruiter a month before my contract was to end with some concerns about the hospital and the hiring/firing of other travelers. They had offered me an extension, which I appreciated but I was already over extended with working my FT contract and I wasn't crazy about extending. He never called me back, and a month later, he called to ask me something about a time sheet and it came out that he had extended me with the PerDiem hospital a month earlier. He says he sent me the contract, but I never got it. I finally got it this past week, to sign of course. He also said that when I called him, I said I wanted to extend.... that is incorrect. I'm just wondering what kind of recourse I would have if this was a contract that I was unable to honor. Or if anyone has ever had that happen before . Have a great Day!
  4. The paramedics that I worked with in the ED were totally AMAZING. We appreciated them so much. They generally acted just like nurses, with a few restrictions. The one I remember most specifically was that they weren't allowed to transport monitored patients to the floor.... which was strange to me, since they, reestablish airways better than we do- with tools made of metal and such. However the Medics were always so pleasant and nice and willing to share knowledge with the nurses - we all had a great time.
  5. People don't realize what a toll holding those patients can take in the ED. Its so frustrating to not be able to spend the time with those patients who are sick enough to need you to spend the time with them. I hope you get a lot of benefit from changing your schedule and maybe you'll be able to recharge your batteries as well. :)
  6. Ned, Thank you so much, I was getting nowhere on the threads because everything I had found was years old. I have a sticks and bricks house, so my tax home is not a worry for me. I just felt like i was in a bit of information overload as well - didn't know quite where to start!
  7. I am really interested in taking my travel career into my own hands and travelling in an RV or a 5th Wheel, I can't figure out where to even start though. Does anyone have any tips to give me on where to start with this venture and what I need to look out for? I'm a 30 something single woman, a little nervous about the safety of the RV parks ,but I really don't know where to start with gathering information for this stuff. Any help is appreciated!!!!!
