Cardiothoracic & vascular vs CTICU
CTICU is a cardiothoracic ICU and may or may not include vascular. We have a CTICU and a separate CVICU at the hospital I work at.

Needing a BSN to practice in WI
While it is an interesting thought, I'm not sure that any state will be able to do this entirely. Although the economy has kind of tanked the job market, it will pick up again and with another nursing shortage in our future, I can't see getting rid of a large part of the staffing pool. While I am a little biased as an ADN, I haven't seen a huge difference in the bedside care of nurses with different degrees. The hospital I currently work at requires a BSN for management and supervisor positions which I can understand, but for regular bedside nursing, I don't really see a point.

ADN program at Chamberlain College
I would look into a traditional ADN program. If this program is completely online, I think it would be incredibly difficult. My 3 years in nursing school were the hardest 3 years of learning I ever went through or could imagine. I think doing it online would be incredibly hard.

Please tell me I'm not crazy...
I'm not sure where you live but $13 doesn't sound terribly off for an LPN. New grad RN's where I work only get $20/hr or so. Definately keep at though, getting your foot in the door is half the battle these days.

Moving to MKE, how's the market?
I'm an RN with 5 years experience who is moving to MKE sometime in the next 6 months. I think I want to work at Froedtart because of the teaching status and I've heard good things. My background is CT stepdown but I would like to move into the CVICU. Any advice on Froedtart? How's the 7/70? They have positions posted but I know that can change at any time. How are the other hospitals for CT/CVICU? How's the pay? Diffs? I know when I left Green Bay, the pay was better than here (NC) but the diffs were better here. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Anyone done 7on/7off 10 hour day schedule?
I am moving and the hospital I would like to work at does a 7on/7off 10 hour day schedule. Anyone done this? Pros? Cons? I currently do 3 12's a week and don't mind it. I think I could make it through the 7 on as long as I can see that light at the end of the tunnel with 7 days off. TIA!
