I live in Michigan and we do have mandatory CEU's, we have to have 25 in 2 years. It have been easily obtainable due to the facility were I work sponsors and helps us get them pretty easily. I did just see in our local paper were an LPN's license was put on probation and she got a $250.00 fine for not having enough CEU's when she renewed her license. So Board of Nursing does audit us!!

Hi Tova, I've worked both 8 and 12 hour shifts and I prefer 8. I did 12's for 6 years and finally was exhausted from working the telemetry unit I normally work and then getting pulled to the ICU for the last part of my shift! That is what exhausted me and then decided to do 8's. It works out better for my new family. Hope this helps you out.
