  1. I work on an internal medicine unit at the U of U so I can't help much in regard to your icu interview. I did a digital interview for a critical care internship, but never heard back. Just dress well, arrive early, and answer questions confidently. If you're coming from out of state, it may help to let them know so that they know you are serious about getting the position. Good luck to ya!!
  2. I got hired as a new grad at the University hospital. We are currently hiring for two open positions on my unit and there are many other open positions within the hospital it seems.
  3. Thanks, Yupps. Eager is an understatement! Yes, I completely understand where Stacy is coming from, but....you don't know if you don't ask!! Time to get ACLS and PALS certs added to my resume!! So far, I've put in 100+ apps to the U, IHC, and Mountainstar. I'll be applying to more today!
  4. Thanks for the info, Stacy!! Perhaps you can give my resume to your friend??
  5. Thanks. Chances are that I've already applied for it. I check the IHC, as well as the U, daily if not several times a day and apply for any RN opening. I have a personal contact who is an RT and works a IHC. He tried to give my resume to HR, but they wouldn't take it and told him to tell to me to keep applying online. So...I'll keep trying!!
  6. ICUman, I'll keep at it. I would love to do critical care or OR. I have noticed that there are some home health positions open so I may try a those as well. Maybe you could help get me in at the facility you work at ?? I'll look into U of U residency. I've been admitted to the U of U as student, but haven't heard back about admission to the RN-BS program. Thanks again.
  7. Yuppers, thanks for the reply. I know your post is from October, but did that newer nurse find a position? Thanks!
  8. Stacy, thanks for the response. That is very discouraging. I've applied to around 60 positions throughout the Salt Lake area and have yet to get a phone call. The fact that I'm a new nurse with zero experience doesn't help either. Do you work in the Salt Lake area? I'm not ready to give up on Utah just yet. Any other advice?? Feel free to message me.
  9. Hello, I will be graduating in December with an ADN-RN and I am considering re-locating to the Salt Lake area from the D/FW area. From what I've read the job market looks tough there. Is is a longshot for me to get hired, being an out-of-state new grad with no prior work history in healthcare? BTW, I plan to apply for a BSN bridge program there locally and getting ACLS certified. Thanks!
  10. Woooohooo!!!! I got the call today and I'm in the program! Wow...still sinking in, but PUMPED about it! I hope the other alts get some good news soon. Gotta find that FB page now...
  11. Student, maybe you should skip the whole nursing thing and go to med school! Great scores! BTW, I think TCC is definitely the right choice for you ;-)
  12. simcr, thanks for the info! That is encouraging! I scored 83.3% on the TEAS. Looks like a few applicants have applied to multiple schools, so there is still hope for us 16-ers yet! Just have to wait and see.........
  13. Simcr, congrats to you as well. I have 16 pts. I just edited my last post as you were posting :-)
  14. Wow, I got on the alternate list! Didn't expect that, but I'll take it! By the way, I have 16 pts.
  15. Congrats Student213, looks like you're a shoe-in for the spring program with 20 pts! I didn't do as well as I had hoped on the Teas, so I remain at 16 pts . Looks like I'll be taking contemporary math to bring my GPA up on my prereqs. That will put me at 18 pts and I plan on taking the TEAS again...so I guess I'll have to wait until next Fall
