  1. The online Patho class you're referring to is the graduate level class, so I wouldn't recommend taking it. I am currently in the ABSN program at FSU, and I took Patho online through Butler Community College (as did a few other ABSN students). They're one of the cheaper schools, and the class wasn't excessively difficult. Plus, Butler's admissions process is a breeze! If you would prefer to attend FSU and are looking for an in-class Patho course, the course number you're looking for is NUR3125.
  2. I'm not sure what my overall GPA was (probably around a 3.7ish including my prerequisites), but my GPA in just my prerequisites was about a 3.85. I took about half of my prereqs when I was getting my first BS, and that was a while ago. I think I had a B and maybe an A- in a couple of them. I made all A's in the prereqs I took over the past couple of years, and I think they take that into account even if you didn't do as well while you were in college the first time around. I don't know what other people's GPAs are; it's not something we've really discussed. We have quite a diverse class age-wise; from brand-new graduates up to late 40s. Grades are not the only thing they look at; they also take work and life experience into account. Good luck!
  3. Congrats to you all! I am just about to start my ABSN program in January, but the year will be over before I know it, and I have my sights set on Vandy. Do you know how many applicants they get each year for the residency?
  4. Thanks! The more I research shoes, it looks like the ones that will be best for my feet and back are ones that lace up. I guess I'll have to get over the whole blood-stain thing. Unless you're in the OR or ER, blood probably doesn't tend to spurt all over. I have so much to learn!
  5. Ceekitty, one more thing. When do you take your board exam? I was wondering how long you have between graduation and the exam to study. Basically, I'd like to know how long I'll be unemployed. :-)
  6. Ceekitty, could you also pass along the word to the other ABSN students that there are several of us interested in buying their used books? I'm sure there are others who would like to offload some. Thanks!
  7. I, too, am very interested in this program. I would like to be a CNM, but to have the option to switch to NP would be great. I hope one of the program graduates finds this thread. It would be great to hear how the program is.
  8. Do you have to apply for the residency program while you're still in nursing school?
  9. Thanks for the info. I have high arches and notice that if I stand on our wooden floors in the kitchen for an hour, my back hurts. Being on my feet for 12 hours will take its toll unless I find the right shoes. I start nursing school in January, so I have to get all white shoes. That might limit my choices, but I've seen so many recommendations for Danskos that I think I'll check them out.
  10. I've been wondering the same thing, PetroNole. It would be great if the current ABSN students who are selling their books could let the CoN know so maybe they could send out an email with contact information. These books are outrageously expensive, and there are so many!
  11. I received my letter in the mail today. It comes with a form you have to fill out stating if you plan to attend FSU or not. It has to be returned to the CON by October 31.
  12. Congratulations to all who got accepted to Florida State AND Miami Dade. Both are equally wonderful accomplishments! And here's to an exciting 2011!
  13. I called the CON today at 12:05 (hey, it was technically afternoon), and they said they were almost finished compiling the list and that I should call back later in the afternoon. Well, I did, and was told I was accepted!!! I am experiencing so many emotions right now, but the top ones would have to be pure joy, RELIEF, and excitement for what's to come in January. Did anyone else call?
  14. Hi Everyone! I keep up with this post almost daily and thought it was about time I posted. :-) I've applied for the 2011 ABSN program, too. I spoke to the CON on Thursday got the same info DLuxe did - that the committee met last Wednesday and they expected to send the letters out either Friday or today (depending on when the dean got back to them with the numbers). I live in Tallahassee, and the letter did not arrive Saturday or today, so I'm thinking they got mailed today. It usually only takes one day for mail to reach anywhere in town, so I hope there's something in my mailbox tomorrow. Are you all having trouble thinking about anything else like I am??? It will just be good to know one way or the other (of course, I hope it's happy news.) Good luck to you all! If DLuxe is right, I'm sure the CON phones will be ringing off the hook tomorrow!
