  1. Hey jimithing, thanks, it's certainly nerve wrecking. I worked my butt off to get my 4.0 and 200 hours of volunteer hospital work, it just sucks to have to wait on sidelines. I'm still hopeful! Good luck at your school!
  2. Hey Kamaboko, that's great! Im sure you will do great in Nursing school, good luck!
  3. I understand those who need to consider options but they should think how the alternates feel, waiting for their lifes journey to start. Impatient and hopeful. I just hope majority of people dont wait till last minute or till July and August to give us a chance :)
  4. Hi ca, It's all on ocne website. You can read a ton about options and transitioning on there :)
  5. What number on list are you cjmama? Yeah I know, I am so tired of waiting! We had to wait like 4 months and now we have to wait one more month!! So frustrating, but yeah we def won't hear anything till couple days after June 15.
  6. Ha, I'm glad you made a PCC alternate thread! I was about to do one :) Unless you are like top 5 we won't probably hear anything till after deadline June 15. Some people don't ven turn their response in and a lot of people do it last minute too. Don't give up hope! I'm staying positive till week after deadline :)
  7. For those who got through the first stage of PCC. Does anyone remember during the opening lecture how many alternates there were? Also, anyone else deciding not to go to PCC or anyone they know not going? Sorry for the repetition :S My nerves are still all over the place! Thanks to those who are letting us waitlisters know where they stand!!
  8. Anyone else declining PCC?
  9. Thanks for those who are posting if they are declining PCC spot! It means a lot to me. In anyone else who hasn't posted already can let me know if they aren't going to pcc and what school they decided on, I'd be very grateful! Thanks again and congrats to everyone who got in :)
  10. Hey everyone I am 25 on waitlist at Pcc. Is that a realistic chance? Anyone get in at Pcc and declining it? Thanks
  11. Was PCC contact an email or a letter in the mail?
  12. Congrads Perkinje & kmdguy! I still have no idea whether I am in or not It's probably in my mailbox, but I am actually in Peru visiting my Dad. So I am like freaking out not knowing if I got in or not :S I think I might have to have a friend hack into my mailbox and tell me herself. But I actually might have to wait a week till I get back. AH THE AGONY! Awesome job you guys! Hopefully I got into Portland Campus too. Fingers crossed!
  13. For anyone wanting to know the update on OHSU Apps, like me, here is an email they sent me back in reply to my question. It's close!
  14. So I took the PCC essay today ... hopefully I get in! Fingers crossed. It's non intimidating, but the nerves got the best of me at the beginning and it was hard to type, ha! But I think it went well, plus I got there like 3 hours early and did like 10 practice essays. Al, the parking situation always stinks! Plan ahead of time, it doesn't hurt to be early. I was there around 10:40 and there was nothing left .. basically. It took me like 20 minutes to find a spot. Just plan ahead :) or take the bus 44 that takes you directly in front of the school.
  15. Has no one heard from Mt.Hood today?
  16. Any word from Mt. Hood yet?
  17. Hey kmdguy, I am in the same situation as you 4.0, Statistics, Foreign Languages, and 59 points. I thought that the points for a B in A&P1 was weird as well. But I guess in the end, it shows in your GPA so it doesn't really matter. There are only so many questions they can ask related to Nursing. The general genre will probably be "Why you want to be a nurse?". My first choice is OHSU as well, so fingers crossed for both of us!! Except we don't find out for another 2 months! XD Last year a friend who is at PCC Nursing school now said she heard from them a week or two after she took essay. I don't know how they will do it this time, so we will see. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ON ESSAYS :)
  18. Mail came! PCC, taking the essay on the 19th
  19. Al34, I am pretty sure it's computer.
  20. Ha, I know .. I was trying to get 100 hours before deadline, but that was a really hard challenge for me! You get 1 point just for having your CNA license, so you are gold Yeah, I was thinking about doing the CNA, but it's time and money .. which I didn't have. I am glad you got to do it though, that gives you an edge/extra point ... good for you :)
  21. Hey Al34, I can't remember where on the PCC site, and I just tried looking for it again, but it says somewhere how many people they accept for the essay and then how many get in. I am pretty sure you were right like from 200 to 100. Sorry I can't find it!!
  22. Ah! you guys are lucky that you get your mail so early!! Mine comes in around 3 I'm positive I have 59 points. I didn't have enough volunteer hours for the 1 point. Last year you just had to be a volunteer in a hospital setting, now it has to be at least 100 hours :S Anyways, congratulations everyone on essay date
  23. Hey Everyone, Just wanted to see if anyone has heard from schools such as PCC, MHCC, and CCC. I know someone last year who heard from schools this upcoming week, but that was last year :S Good Luck Everyone!
  24. Hey Everyone, Anyone applying within the OCNE program, and OHSU is going to be stressed like I am. Based on the points system your GPA is a HUGE part of it, and even if you get into the second stage (interview/essay), if it comes down to a tie or cluster of students they look at in-district status first, GPA second, math grade, and then A&P I grade. So, grades are super important. I spoke with a PCC counselor and she said cut off was around 58 - 60 pts out of the first stage. I am sure it is the same for Mt. Hood and Clackamas. As for OHSU, GPA is your only real hope for getting in. Prior degree doesn't matter as much as it does for the community colleges, which count it as points for first stage, but it's mainly GPA and then your essay. I have a 4.0 GPA and I applied to the Portland Campus at OHSU, so we will see, but I have a feeling there will be so many applicants that my chances are slight All I can do is pray! I hope I am not the only one who is super impatient to hear from schools already ... and it's only February!
