  1. Is the website down for anybody else? I can't log in...
  2. Hey! To those who received the award, what did they ask you for? Just curious :-) CONGRATS again!!
  3. Congratulations to everybody who received an email today!! For those who haven't, I called the help desk today and they said that all 350 awards have not been made yet. So don't lose hope! Questions for folks who have received the award: What state do you go to school in? What is your EFC? How happy are you?!?! Congrats again! Waiting patiently and hopefully!!
  4. We should make a Facebook group...does anybody know how?
  5. Congrats everybody!!
  6. I got an email from Financial Aid and then an email from the person from WHC who has been in touch with us about the program.
  7. Just found out I got it!
  8. Has anybody heard back from WHC? So ready to hear back so I can figure out my final plans. I would obviously love the scholarship, but after visiting, I think I might be even more excited about working there after school! Just a note on repayment programs. I've heard good things about the federal repayment programs and I've even heard that many DC-area hospitals qualify as under served hc facilities...I know that with the federal nursing scholarships it can be tough because you're at their mercy when you're done with school in terms of where you work, but with the repayment programs I think you have more flexibility. Or at least that's what I've heard! Thanks for all of the helpful comments! Again, can't WAIT to hear back about WHC.
  9. Hope everybody had great interviews!! I guess we hear back this week! So exciting!!
  10. I'm most likely going to Georgetown as well! The visit was great on Friday...made me really excited for the fall! And like I said, I was blown away by WHC on Saturday. After the visit I think I would commit three years there after graduating even if they weren't going to give me the scholarship! I'm in the DC area as well (in the U Street neighborhood)...trying to figure out where to live next year will be easier once I know about the WHC scholarship...but I'm probably going to try to live somewhere without roommates (all of my friends are far too much fun to be conducive to studying) and closer to Dupont (read: GUTS bus). SO excited to start nursing school!!!
  11. Hi! Thanks for reporting back! Sorry to hear you didn't feel great about your interview! I also interviewed on Saturday and am completely in love with WHC! I'm one of those nurses who feels really excited about nursing in a high acuity, diverse hospital setting, but who doesn't know which specialty I'll end up in yet! So basically, I feel like this this program would be perfect!! I'm definitely nervous and hopeful about the decisions!! After meeting everybody this weekend, I know that everybody is super qualified and amazing! Aalett, are you definitely going to Georgetown or are there other schools in the running for you? What part of DC do you live in? Thanks!!
  12. Hi Everybody!! Hope you're well! For those of you who visited over the weekend for both Georgetown and WHC, what were your thoughts? Was WHC what you expected? Are you still enthusiastic about the scholarship? Would love to hear what folks are thinking!
  13. @rikkitikki: I just called the financial aid office today! I submitted my FAFSA and PROFILE back in March, but had not heard anything yet. It turns out, they needed my 1040 form...I submitted that today and they said I should hear back in the next week or so regarding what the school will be able to offer! Hope that helps!
  14. I think it's around 60!
  15. I'm signed up for the 29th and 30th! I'm really looking forward to it! See you all soon! @dlrosen: I was also accepted at GW and Georgetown. I have to tell GW by April 29, which is two weeks before I will know about the scholarships (we find out the week of May 9). I'm really leaning towards Georgetown. Mostly because of their track record with the NCLEX and even more mostly because I live in DC and don't want to commute an hour every day. (I did some rough estimates and it would be probably cost me $7000 in gas and tolls for 1.5 years!). I'll probably let GW know that I'm not going to go there soon! I would like to be able to wait until I have the scholarship, but it isn't worth $275. Hopefully that will free up space for others as well! Hope this helps anybody who is having the same concerns about GW vs. Georgetown!! They're both great programs, I just think Georgetown will be a better fit for me! M
  16. @zsazsa2012: CONGRATS on your acceptance!! It is so exciting!! I'm not 100% sure I'm going to go to GW, but if I do end up there I would LOVE to coordinate carpooling with you! I live in the U Street area, so pretty close to you! I can't bear the idea of moving out of DC, so if I go to GW I'm going to commute as well! You should start an FB group!! I don't want to start one since I'm not sure I'm going, but it would be great to have a group on there!! CONGRATS again!!!
  17. Claire, I've had the same fantastic experiences with Georgetown throughout this process! It has been pretty seamless. I got the same information regarding the admitted students day! How many of you all are going to be able to attend? I know a lot of people aren't in the DC area. I'm curious if anybody who got into Georgetown is not going to apply for the WHC scholarship. 3 years commitment is substantial and I can see why people moving from far away might be unsure about signing up for that! I'd love to hear what you all are thinking! Best of luck to everybody! M
  18. Does anybody know when we're supposed to hear back about the scholarship? I have to tell some of my other schools by the end of the month, but I don't think we will have a decision by then!
  19. I got in too! Now onto the scholarship application! Congrats to those who have gotten in!
  20. Hi! dfarrington and louise08h! So Ashburn is pretty far away!! Definitely a 45 min to hour drive from DC! The Foggy Bottom campus is right in DC and the clinical sights will be all over the place I think! I think whether you live in DC or somewhere in Virginia depends on what you want and where you are in your life! For me, I'm in my 20s, not married and still have a bunch of friends in the district!! I've lived and worked here for 4 years and I would not be able to give up living in the city. It's definitely going to be more expensive and possibly annoying to get to Ashburn, but I just love DC too much to leave :-) Another alternative would be to live in the Northern Virginia area. NoVa (as it is known here) is metro accessible and depending on the location could save you 10 or so minutes on your commute (be careful though because depending on where you are it could probably add to your commute as well). People say that NoVa is cheaper, although for apartments/houses that are close to the metro it is generally about the same as housing in DC. If you don't really care about Washington and you're just coming to DC just to kind of get through nursing school, I would say live closer to GW/Ashburn. It will certainly be cheaper once you get a little ways out of the city and will be a much more suburban lifestyle. Apparently it is really pretty in the Ashburn area...I think it gets kind of mountain-y out there and there are wineries and things too, I think. Ha, can you tell I don't leave DC much? Hope this information is helpful!! I'm happy to help with any other questions!! I would love a Facebook group, but I don't want to make it since I'm not 100% going to GWU!
  21. I'm in! Not sure if I will end up going there! I got into another school, so it will be tough to decide! I live in DC and I wouldn't want to move, so the commute is definitely worrisome! Does anybody know how often we would be in Ashburn? The other program I got into to is much closer to where I live now, but without a scholarship would be more expensive than GW! It's going to be tough to decide, but I'm just really happy to be in!! Good luck to everybody who is still waiting to hear!!
  22. THANK YOU! It is going to be tough!! I'm worried about the commute from DC to Ashburn! It is a long way and the toll roads are EXPENSIVE! Other Washingtonians, what are your thoughts on the commute? Does anybody have a sense of how often we would be driving out there? I'm also curious about if we will have access to all of the Foggy Bottom Campus facilities (libraries, gyms etc.). @dlrosen: I know you did a lot of research before you decided on GW, do you have any thoughts?
  23. I got in!! Very exciting!! I'm not completely sure if I will end up at GW yet, but I'm am THRILLED to have the option! @dlrosen: I think an FB group is a great idea! I haven't visited the campus yet, but I would really like to. Does anybody know if they're having an admitted student day? Congrats all around and best of luck to those of you still awaiting a decision!!
  24. @AcelBSN Student: I'm sorry you didn't get in, but it sounds like you're happy with your options for the fall!! Did you get an email?
