Gurnick LVN program... Me=enrolling update
Just like there were certain real estate and mortgage companies who made bad real estate deals which created the mortgage crisis. But does that mean that ALL real estate and mortgage companies are crooks?? No it doesn't. So you saying that "actually, it often does mean exactly that," is extremely naive.

that's the thing with people like her, they like to bring others down because they are unhappy. but apparently from her last post that's the last we'll hear from her. good riddance :)

You are entitled to your opinion, but the reason that I replied to your post and not other anti-gurnick ones is because you come off as very hypocritical. You said yourself you hung up the phone on them once you heard that you had to pay for pre-reqs. If they were so unprofessional when you called them the first time, why did you even go down there to test?? If you were listening the "other peoples' educated opinions" why did you go there to test?? If faculty members at CSU Stan cautioned you against it why did you go there to test?? Do you see where I'm going with this?? And why did you call back to say that you had all your paperwork together to enroll if you had seen so many red flags along the way?? As far as the faculty at CSU Stan not hearing about them, I wouldn't give that much thought due to the fact that Gurnick is accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. I've done my homework on them. Go to www.bvnpt.ca.gov and see for yourself. And being a "for-profit" school doesn't make them crooked or a scam. It's a business, of course they're out to make a profit. They do not get funding from the state to pay for supplies and faculty like MJC and Stan State does. You said Gurnick is not for you, and that's fine, more room for myself and those of us who want to go there. But at least admit that it was because you were expecting not to pay a dime, and that wasn't the case. Since their next class is full they must be doing something right. And once again, I wish you the best of luck in your education.

Need help deciding on a school
I've been looking into Gurnick, but in Modesto. Their upcomming class is full I heard but I'd like to try and do the next one. I just need to make an appointment for their exam. Anyone already taken it? Is it hard??

Gurnick LVN program... Me=enrolling update
While reading this thread, I'm a little confussed about something... Your first post says that you've taken their exam and are hoping to enroll in their upcoming class. Then when you called them and found out that you actually have to pay money for the pre-reqs (what a concept) you all of a sudden decide to bash them saying how unprofessional they were, how remedial the exam was, and how small their facilty was. If that was the case, why did you still want to attend there after you took the exam?? I just think it's unfair for you to discourage other people from attending this school just because you were not happy that you had to spend money out of your pocket to go there. I have friends who are going through the LVN program at the modesto campus and they have said nothing but positive things. I myself have decided to make a career change due to the economy and am considering becomming an LVN. I actually happened to contact the Modesto campus yesterday as a matter of fact, and they also told me that they are full for the next class, but that there would be another starting next year. So it looks like they weren't lying to you when they said that they only had a few spots left. I know people who have been waiting for years to get into MJC but they have never been lucky enough to win in their lottery system. Personally, I'd rather pay the extra money and go to a private school, than wait years in the hopes of getting into MJC or Stan State. I also looked on gurnick's website and it seems that all the info they gave you is correct. You seemed to be upset that there was a few steps you had to take before being enrolled. But I'm sure any school you would attend would require the same things if not more. I also like the fact that you do not have to already be a CNA to attend Gurnick, like you do to attend MJC. Unfortunatly, in this day and age you have to spend some money now, in order to make a lot more later. That's higher education. Hopefully you won't let that stop you from persuing your goals. I have already started saving and I'm hoping that I can get in next year. Best of luck to you with the MJC wait list.
