  1. Well....not too many people responded, but thanks to those that did. I just got my letter in the mail, and the board denied my licensure due to that fact that I have a felony conviction, and that my license is under disciplinary action in New Hampshire....to which I only have to send them quarterly reports from where I work. The board knew all of this before I even applied, and $130 later, and all of that waiting and worrying, they deny me. This is all so unfair....I did what I did....I paid hard for it, bettered myself through counseling and sobriety, to which I sent all of the proof of that, including several references.....and the State of Georgia still feels that I need to be punished for life. So now a choice needs to be made...either my Fiance' sells her beautiful house and moves herself and her kids here to a place is not exactly african american friendly, or I give up my career to move there which would be a shame, because I am a dang good nurse, and am told that often. Too bad I have no other skills, since I have been a nurse and only a nurse for the past 18 years. Well, I guess I'll try for an appeal, but I do hope they at least let me know if I am wasting my time beforehand, they didn't feel the need to tell me that before I even applied....that would have saved me and mine a lot of heartache. Thank you for a forum to spout off, and may God bless you all.
  2. I am currently an LPN in New Hampshire, and am seeking licensure in Georgia, as I plan to move there with my fiance'...My problem is that although I am licensed here, and employed, my license has stipulations due to the fact that I ended up incarcerated for some very big mistakes in my life that were not nursing related or job related. I have some nasty charges on my record such as criminal threatening, and simple assault....to which I have recieved extensive counseling for besides the incarceration, and am very happy to say am in recovery for alcoholism......which is of course what led me to that point. The thing is, the Georgia Nursing Board states that they will put thier decisions on their website, and I have not seen anything as yet, and it's been quite some time. I have called them, and they tell me that they can not give me any answers over the phone, although the person I spoke with today stated to me that if she were me, she wouldn't start making any plans yet.....the way the conversation went, it didn't sound good. I am stressed beyond all reasonable capacity here, and would like to know if anyone has ever heard of a situation like mine, and whether or not the board typically denies licensure for such things....hope someone can ease my mind.
