UIC Graduate Entry Program
I also find it quite annoying they not have updated their website! I called back in early September and was told it may be January before the website is updated. I really liked Depaul's generalist program but it's so expensive! I am anxious to see what UIC's program has transitioned to so I know which programs I will be applying to.

UIC Graduate Entry Program
Does anyone know anything more about the GEP for 2015? The website still says the program is under review. I am having a hard time finding an email for who I should contact since all of the pages are not working.

RN with non BSN B.S in Health Science
I am finishing up my B.S in health science degree and was planning on applying for a general entry masters program in midwifery. The program is now under review and it seem like they are changing the degree program. I will not know the requirements until August 2013 (at the earliest). I would like to start working as soon as possible but I am not currently an RN. I have heard numerous times that associate degree nurses are not being hired. If I were to go to a community college to get my RN, with a non BSN bachelors what are my chances of finding a job after graduation? My goal is become a CNM or a pediatric NP so obviously I would be completing more school. I live in Chicago.

UIC Graduate Entry Program
I would like to apply for UIC's GEP in midwifery 2015 program which would mean I need to apply my this January (2014). I am trying to figure out my classes and determine my B.S health science graduation and pre-reqs. I took Anatomy and Physiology 1 & 2, passed with A's and B's but that was over five years ago. I am currently registered to take anatomy this fall 2013. Do I need to have this completed before the January application date or just before the start of the program in January 2015? Also, I am having trouble registering for the last class needed for my B.S in health science degree(I now regret never finishing when I could have) I could register to take the course with another school but they are hesitant to let me do that since I will not be completing the last 30 hrs at my home school. I took some time off from my degree program to become a yoga teacher, studied massage, became a CLEC, labor doula, and work. Does my degree have to be completed by the January application date or can I officially graduate from undergrad in the spring 2014 and still apply for the UIC GEP 2015 start date?

Midwife then Masters in Nursing
Thanks! I thought that maybe with a masters degree in nursing I could possibly be allowed to attend a hospital birth. I am interested in a more holistic model of midwifery, which is why I would go the CPM route. By having a WHNP I would have the level of knowledge as a CNM.

Midwife then Masters in Nursing
I currently hold a B.S. in health science, CNA, Doula, CBE and CLEC. I would like to become a midwife who will be able to attend births at home and in the hospital. I have looked at the requirements for NP programs with a speciality in midwifery. They are all very hospital based programs. COuld I go midwifery school to become a CPM and then get my masters in nursing with a speciality in woman's health or something similar? If I went this route would I be able to assist with hospital births? Would becoming a CPM hinder any employment opportunities with a medical practice once I became a NP? Has anyone gone this route?

CNA Class in IL but test in FL
The state exam is only offered two times a month. I will still be in class when the first exam is offered and in Fl when the 2nd one is offered.

CNA Class in IL but test in FL
HI everyone! I am originally from FL. I moved to IL about a year ago and decided to go to nursing school in IL. I am currently in a 5 week CNA class, but the problem is I will miss the cutoff date to take the state exam in IL. I was planning on going back to FL over the holidays for 2 months after finishing up the 5 week program. I will not be able to take the IL state CNA exam until January. I am not too worried I forget the information by then but it would be nice to get certified after finishing the class. Would it be possible to "challenge" the FL exam and then apply for reciprocity to IL. I was planning on taking a phlebotomy class while in FL but I need to have a certification to do so. I have my B.S. in health science and will be eventually going to nursing school. I want to begin working in the field asap! Thanks!!!!!
