I have heard the same statement, "they are DNR anyway". Makes you want to go hmmmmm! I agree with the definition above on Hospice and the other. I think some nurses (in the working environment) need to keep their opinion of DNR to themselves. If they go in cardiac arrest, then that comes in to play, no CPR!

I did clinicals at a larger hospital in TN. I have to say the nurses were great. I first established a relationship with them and let them know that I was serious about getting procedures in my clinicals and they kept me busy. I was able to cover every skill and I loved it! Unfortunately, some students do not get this experience (some of my classmates didn't) but the nurse would even look for me to do skills. Go to clinicals with a positive attitude and a learning attitude and it will be fine usually.

There is a new 5-star rating on LTC's in TN and basically the more RNs they have (regardless of whether they are direct care) the higher the facility rates in stars. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, don't know what to think about that one.
