  1. @ ber334 i'm taking a religion right now at montco (with dr. jih who is awesome) and i'll be taking my other religion course at manor college. i keep hearing things about a ccc online patho class but i dont know too much about it. congrats at your acceptance!!!
  2. which home college are you using for them?
  3. you know... I reading all of these comments about ccconline and was wondering what the heck it was and how I could take some of the courses through them. I need to check this place out more and see how I can do it.
  4. Hi Kdrose01! I posted on my other page about what my plan is with you and everyone's helpful suggestions. If I had a little paper umbrella I would totally celebrated with putting it in my coffee cup this morning. Good luck with your application to Jeff! I was going to look into Drexel but I was told to stay away.... a old HS friend who I recently connected back up with on FB (who just so happend to graduate from the Villa BSN express program told me that in terms of Drexel's 11 month program...."people totally freak out during that thing and lose their minds. Totally bonkers. Unbelievably intense, you don't want it even if the 11 month timeline is seductive!" That was enough to scare me back on track with keeping VU as my #1. I dont want to rush the actual program... I want to learn as much as I possibly can there to be the best nurse I can be. It's these pre-reqs that I need to have the same additude towards :) Do you know what area of nursing you want to go into? I have two totally different areas of interests right now...I would love to be on the mom and baby unit and am also really interested in working with people living with AIDS/HIV. But I know that could ALL change when I get into the program and do clinicals and whatnot.
  5. I'm loving everyone who has commented right now. :redbeathe Seriously. taking into account what everyone said I figured out a way to cut myself down on the time it will take. I just registered for General Bio and doubled that up with a nutrition online. I'm taking away micro because jguy you made a good point. I'll just focus on Patho. In pouring over my old transcripts (even after 3 advisors have looked at them) I could have sworn that somewhere I took a developmental psych class... sure enough.. I did. Back in 2000. So that's one more down. How 3 advisors and myself missed that, I have no clue. But I'm not complaining about it :) here's my new plan... Spring2011 - Gen. Bio & Nutrition (doubled up - one science and one general ed course) Summer Session 2011 - General Chem (need organic chem for Villanova but must take this general before I'm allowed to take organic) Fall2011 - AP 1 Spring 2012 - AP 2 Summer 2012 - Organic Chem (have to take somewhere else because Montco does not offer this more than once a year during the day- not sure where would be best and cost effective) Fall 2012 - Statistics and my 2nd needed religion course (doubled up) and will need to take these at Manor College instead of Montco. Spring 2013 - Patho (not sure where I should take this one yet) So again..... THANK YOU for your help! Hugs for everyone!
  6. hi kdrose01 :) i cannot say how much your response helped me. everything from the fact how your are an intense animal lover (like me) and what helped you get through it...to how you work full time and are taking a class a semester... to how your going into an accelerated program and won't be able to work (like me!) your outlook on the whole thing just... really helped. thank you :) it's been a hard day and i've just been driving myself crazy with all of this. i'm registering for the spring semester of bio tomorrow but just now figured that i should add an online developmental psy. class as well. i figured that the online developmental psy class wouldnt be that hard to tackle with general bio. well, at least i hope not! how was the online nutrition class for montco? i think i might try to take that at the same time as another science if it's not that difficult. what program are you working towards getting into? the bsn express program at villanova is 14 months and expensive as heck but i heard from two friends that they loved it. i also heard that the hospital's really respond to villanova nursing students and just gobble them up. figured that it would be worth the extra money if it opens up more doors.
  7. I started my first prereq this fall and met with an advisor at my community college today (Montgomery County Community College) to come up with a course plan for me. I really would love to get into the Villanova BSN express program. She said it would take me 3 years to get my pre-reqs done. UGH! I work full time and since I am doing a career change I figured that it would be best to only take one class a semester. That way I have a chance of getting the best grade possible and still handle my FT job. There are only a few that it looks like I can double up on and still have a good chance of getting a great grade. After they are all complete..... (fingers crossed)..... I get into the program, quit my job and kick butt (major in-debt butt) at the 14 month Villanova BSN express program. Is anyone able to offer any recommendations for how to cut down this 3 year plan a bit? Maybe some other classes you think I could double up on with how heavy my FT work is and still have a good shot at getting a good grade? I've never taken science classes before. I just didnt need them for my current BA.. I'm kinda nervous and do not know what to expect from them or how I will do. Fall2010 - taking a religion course (prereq) to ease myself back into school Spring2011 - Gen. Bio Summer Session one 2011 - General Chem (need organic chem for Villanova but must take this class before I can take that one) Fall2011 - AP 1 Spring 2012 - AP 2 Summer 2012 - Developmental Psyc. & Nutrition (doubled up) Fall 2012 - Statistics and my 2nd needed religion course (doubled up) Spring 2013 - Organic Chem Summer 2013 - Patho (need to find a place to take this still since they dont offer it) Fall 2013 - Microbiology (even though I at this point completed my pre-reqs, I heard that I would really need this as a nurse)
  8. thanks so much for your helpful replies! for some reason i had not gotten any alerts that let me think that someone responded. my eyes bugged out when i went on this site today. @kdrose01 i cannot imagine having to dissect a dead cat in my living room and store it. i don't think my 2 cat's would enjoy it either! i spoke with an advisor at montgomery county community college today and they said that it would take me like.. 2 and 1/2 years to complete my pre-reqs. i left the appointment feeling pretty bummed out. @caliotter3 i really thank you for the "one class at a time" pep talk. i keep telling myself that but 2 & 1/2 years seems like a killer wait. i am running into "3 snags" one - i need an chemistry with an organic component and they only offer it once a year during the day (which i just cant do). every college/university around here considers that to be a chem 2 class. so i need to take the in-organic as a pre-req before being able to take the class that counts. *sigh* two - they do not offer pathophysiology so i need to find a place that soes and doesnt break the bank at the same time. three - i need to take a statistics class and my community college is making me take a pre-req for that. booo. montco is only charging me a little over $350 per class and i would like to find an online option to help me out with the three above. and one more thing..... this may seem like a silly question... but i am dreading having to dissect an animal for any of these classes. are there options out there that let you do a "virtual" disection? i'm one of those strange girls who has never emotionally been able to handle seeing a hurt or dead animal.. but have no issues when it comes to humans. something "shuts off" in me and i'm able to dissociate.
  9. This program is my #1 choice! I'm not ready to apply yet but I did just start taking my pre-req's for it. (which is a big step because I'm doing a complete career change!) Did anyone take any of their pre-reqs for Villa online? I'm looking for suggestions for an affordable online option so I can get these finished asap! Good luck to you all! I'll be following in your footsteps in the hopefully not too distant future
  10. Hello Everyone! :) I'm one of those "career change" newbies on the board :) I finally took the first step towards completing my pre-req's and am currently taking my first class at a local community college. Woohoo! I graduated with a BA in 03 so it's been quite a while since being in the classroom. I work full time and can only take one per semester, but am determined to finish these up so I can quit my job and go to nursing school full time. My question is: Who out there has taken an online course for one or more pre-req/s required by your school of choice? What class was it and where did you take it? I am driving myself crazy because Montco (my community college) is having me do a TON of introductory classes before I can take the class I actually need! Also, I'm pretty sure I can take 2 classes at a time if one of them is online. Thoughts? Tips?
