Yale GEPN Applicants 2012
@zhazha1: I think Yale is really a "whole package" type of place. It seems like you have a good background, though; my advice is to write the best essay of your life - and try to do reasonably well on the GRE's. If you get an interview, do some research on your interviewer and come prepared with questions, comments, and knowledge about their subject areas. I think it goes a long way. Best of luck!

@ajessica: Haven't started commuting yet - not until August - but driving seems much faster than the train from the Bronx, which takes an hour and 40 minutes. I've done the drive a few times now for various reasons, and via the Merritt from Westchester I've made it door to door in anywhere from 1 hour (no traffic) to 1 hour 20 minutes. The cost and wear/tear on my car is a factor, sure, but I'm not big on public transportation so...I'm going to give it a shot. If it ends up being too much, I'll start taking the train or considering other living options. A lot of people commute much longer than that to work for years - if they can do it, why can't I? ;D However, if the weather report is nasty, I'll take the train for sure.

@PamCNM2Be: Would you mind describing a typical week's schedule? Which days do most people have classes, and which days are clinicals? At what time do classes start, and when would they normally end? Thank you so much!

***** said on Interview Day that all students from 2012 on will have to take A&P, regardless of their prereqs. We'll all be in the same boat. I took it last year, but I'm going to read up over the summer to refresh my memory!

Should I be fortunate enough to be admitted, I will most likely be commuting from Yonkers, NY - just outside the Bronx. On my interview day it took me about an hour and 15 minutes to get there, since it's a reverse commute. Not ideal, but people do it!

NYU BSN Fall 2012
Hi everyone, There was no forum for NYU BSN applicants, so I thought I'd start one. Hello, is there anybody out there?

Yale GEPN Applicants 2012
Any reflections/interesting stories/reactions regarding interviews? I was much more nervous than I expected to be. The conversational style of the interviews disarmed me a bit. Overall I think it went well, but I sure was babbling at certain points!

ACNP, Onc, WH/Adult, Midwifery, Peds, and Psych were all there.

Yale GEPN Applicants 2012
I know that somewhere between 300-400 applications were received. My estimation is that about half of those people got interviews, and they said yesterday that they only have 66 spots rather than 88 as in most years. I came away from the day loving Yale even more than before. It's far and away my top choice.

@simplekategirl: Part of the interview is supposed to be some guidance from the professor regarding how best to integrate the new Oncology structure into one of the existing tracks, like FNP, Acute, etc. Unsure right now which she'll think is most appropriate.

Yale GEPN Applicants 2012
Hi everyone, I'm interviewing tomorrow (Thursday) for the Track Formerly Known As Oncology...it will now be a concentration rather than a course of study. I'm staying tonight (Wednesday) at the Study at Yale with my girlfriend. We will most likely have dinner in the hotel at some point. If anyone happens to be there as well, let me know! I'll try to check this forum a couple times tonight. Best of luck to all interviewees. I hope to meet you all in September - fingers crossed!

Yale GEPN Applicants 2012
Hi everyone, I have an interview on the 26th, and I'm staying at the Study at Yale with my girlfriend. We will be there for one night only. I'm sad that this forum lost so many valuable messages, particularly the one in mid-December about acceptance rates for interviewees. Anyone remember who posted that? I'm very excited, but also incredibly nervous. Time to start spelunking in past years for some interview tips, I guess. Good luck to everyone! For future applicants, I received my email at 11:46 am for the Oncology program.

Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry
Thanks, Soccergrl54! That's some consolation, as long as I don't get outright rejected. However, if I get rejected a *second* time after applying ED, I may self-immolate. Totally kidding, but in all seriousness - this sucks. Really, really sucks.

Hi everyone, Does anyone know if they'll roll over our application into the Regular Decision pool if we don't get accepted ED? Thanks. A little - no, a significant amount - of panic is settling in!

 Despite having applied to college and grad school before, I don't think I've ever been so wound up. This wait is just excruciating.

Yale GEPN Applicants 2012
@simplekategirl: No, the switch wasn't difficult for me. I've applied for the Oncology subspecialty at Columbia. It's a definite interest of mine, so I didn't agonize over the change too much. It was just a tiny bit disappointing, that's all. I would doubt that Yale deems "university break" as when the staff is on break, since the staff don't get a traditional two/three week recess. Also, for the past few years, they've tended to notify interviewees this very week. I guess it remains to be seen. I will continue my moderate nocturnal libations until I hear!

I originally applied to AGNP but had to switch to Oncology since my program was cancelled. Thanks so much simplekategirl and laflaca for emailing the office. This wait is far worse than the wait for my college and grad school admissions letters!

I had a dream last night we would get notification from Yale today. Needless to say, I am losing sleep over this - as well as my mind! :chair:

@CUSONAPP: Yes, I'm reapplying. I didn't get in last year. They didn't offer any specific recommendations, but I know that other people spoke to someone at CUSON and got a few pointers. I'm retaking a C- psych class from college, and I completely revamped my essay from the ground up. I've also completed now all of the prereqs except statistics, which I'll be done with very soon. I asked **** if I was taking the right approach this year, and he said I seemed to be on the right track. Other than not having to resend my older transcripts and GRE scores, my application was treated the same as it was last year. I highly doubt they give people reapplying any other kind of special consideration, except perhaps brownie points for optimistic persistence! ;D

Yale GEPN Applicants 2012
Hi everyone, Some years, the GEPN applicants have been notified of their interviews as early as December 8th. Other year's it's been the 15th, or as late as the 22nd. What's the consensus for this year - the 15th? This wait is truly torturous.
