New to Ohio and frustrated
I worked in hospitals in Michigan as a PCA while doing my prereq's and I know LPNs could not dose narcotics, push meds and the nurses had to sign off on all their charts. I didn't mean to offend anyone, I never said you weren't a nurse. I said for myself, I would rather be an RN. If you noticed I also said I was willing to become an LPN until I can get my degree. I also did not choose Ohio, I would never have left nursing school in Michigan if given a choice. My husband was offered a position here and for him and his career it was just too good to pass. Although I will say since being here that most of the people have been very nice and it is a beautiful state.

I appreciate everyone's input. I am in the Dayton area, Centerville to be exact. I considered staying in my program in Michigan but w/a husband and 4 kids it just was not a choice. Of course my love is nursing, not going into it for anyone else but my want to care for people. The degree does matter because I understand there is more a nurse can do than an LPN. I have actually considered working as a phlebotomist until I can get into school. I am just really confused as to what to do at this point and I have also been told that the good LPN programs have waiting lists as well. I do have an appointment June 8 with Wright State for their BSN program and will wait to see what they have to say. I know for a BSN I already have most of the prereq's out of the way just a few extras I would have to take but only a couple. I won't give up because this is definately what I want to do. My husband is a great help in that he constantly tells me that is where I belong and that nursing is my true calling. Thanks again for all the input it is greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I am from Michigan and was in nursing school there. The Friday before I started my first nursing class my husband was offered a job here. I only got one semester of nursing classes in before I had to move. I have been trying to get into and program here with no success. I have an appointment with a counselor at Wright state in June and Kettering on the 21st. In Michigan I was in an associates program. I told my husband that with the wait list for the programs here maybe I would just go for my bachelor's. Now I here there is a waiting list for that. I have all my prereqs done and everything seems like it will transfer. I was considering going for an LPN while on the waiting list for school. Anyone have any suggestions. I am completely depressed. I was hoping to be an RN by the age of 40 but now it looks like that won't happen.
