City Colleges of Chicago: Fall 2012
hey, iceblue- i really recommend taking statistics with Prof Siedeman at HWC. He goes to a lot of trouble to make sure you understand what's going on, and really goes step by step. Statistics is not "fun"- but he does emphasize all of the practical applications of statistics. I can't say enough good things.

does anyone know anything about malcolm x's nursing program. I've read various things on yelp, like it's not accredited- I sent an inquiry to Dr. Gurney (I got accepted!), but if anyone knows anything, I'd really appreciate any information. :)

Truman College? (chicago)
Hey- so because of a clerical error on the part of Truman (they lost my highschool transcript), and never called me about my "missing" English 101 (I took AP in highschool and tested out for college- graduated with a degree said subject). I've taken all of my pre-reqs (except for Micro), and got As & Bs (except for 1 C), and I've taken Med Term, and I did really well on the TEAS test. I now have to call the AP company to have them send my score, and after that, make an appointment to plead my case. But it's been such a bumble the whole time with Truman- with them changing their entrance criteria, to them losing my information, to them not contacting me about not having English 101... I'm starting to wonder about Truman. Anybody have any thoughts or opinions?

Medical Terminology in Nursing...
Thank you all for your feedback. You've been incredible! And I'm sure I'll be lurking around the site for more advice and input :) Yeah, I'm pretty nerdy about language too, and enjoy connecting words from one language w. words from other languages, and words from words. I also took highschool latin (and it kicked me around pretty good, too), but then I took etymology, and that was good clean fun! :)

Medical Terminology in Nursing...
NascarNurse- that was hilarious! No, I think maybe the tone of my original query made me sound like a skeptic, but so far, I really like the class. I like learning new words. It's like finding a language that's been hiding in my dear old English, all this time, right under my nose.

Medical Terminology in Nursing...
Hi! I'm new to the forum. I'm currently in school taking my pre-reqs for nursing, and one of my assignments for the Medical Terminology class is to have a discussion with someone in the medical field the importance (or lack thereof) of having a solid grasp of Medical Lingo in the field. Basically, is this going to be a useful class once I'm actually working? I can't wait to hear from you! :)
